I watched a match on ESPN Classic a few weeks ago that was called by Chris Berman and Allen Hopkins. Hopkins spent the whole time making useless comments like "I think he'll use bottom left here to come off the cushion" without explaining anything for the non-poolplayer audience about why he's using that english or why he's going for that position, or giving any insight at all into how a top player thinks when he plays the game, and Berman sounded like nobody even took the time to explain the rules of the game to him. He literally sounded like he had been pulled out of the baseball or football commentators booth two minutes earlier and told "you're going to call a pool match, the players' names are Minnesota Fats and Willie Mosconi. Go."
