What is the longest straight session you have played someone? What were you playing? How did you end up? I guess with short breaks/food runs etc. Mine is only about 7 hours playing races to 7 9ball. Ended up 4 sets.

Watched some guys playing a few months ago who has been playing for 14 hours $10/rack 9ball with one good player spotting a weaker player the 7 out. They both had wads of crinkled money in their pockets when they paid each other after every game.

After installing my Talisman Pro Medium tip, I played around 4 1/2 hours of 9-ball straight thru without resting. And I won most racks along with running more than ever before, today. Man, this game is the greatest once confidence and accuracy have been acheived.

I takes lessons from Fast and I was on the phone with him talking and I asked him this question. He said he did a 14 hr in a row session just yesterday and he's old enough to be in a nursing home. No breaks but to eat, on his feet playing solid. He said in the days of the long sessions, the 61 Hustler movie, He would match up and usually begin at lunch, play all night and quit at day break. His longest match with out any sleep was 28 hours, but he did not drink booze, do coffee, do drugs and play like everyone else he knew back there did..

He says he knows of guys who got into those sessions and went for 2 or 3 days. The game was straight pool so you were in your chair for long periods of time. They would sleep while the other guy was playing. He would miss and a railbird would wake him up to play. The longest he heard of was one that went for 6 straight days. These guys would get on speed, diet pills, booze, what ever they could get their hands upon, get wired, drink pots of coffee, chain smoke and when they got to be 50 yrs old, if they lived that long, they had destroyed most of their nurologicaly systems and you see their hands trembling with tremors. Mosconis head literally blew up from this and he almost died and his career as a champion was ended at once.

If you want to totally destroy your mind and body he said, just begin playing pool all night and do drugs so your mind and body can stay alert. It's buring the candle at both ends, running a car at 7000 rpm constantly, the motor wears out 3 times faster, the same thing occurs with the body he said.
He has a very strong anti drug message and is admament we learn to do these things with our minds cold sober using Zen methods. He is teaching me to do this and I know he is correct.

My first long session was 12-14 hours where I eventually ended up busting my oponent, though it was for less than 500 bucks.

Within a year after that, I played an 18 hour session 300/game nineball with the outcome of losing 3300.00. Within a week I played the same guy 1k/race to nine and within 3 hours won all my money back plus some of his. I guess I was outlasted in that long session.

Since then, I have played several 10-20 hour sessions with varying outcomes. I actually prefer long sessions these days, I feel I can outlast my oponent more.

The odds favor longtime. Anyone can win the first few games but when I get my rhythm it's utterly the death march for my opponent, vatch oit.

Friday nights, 6pm till 11pm 5 hours.....Sundays when I can't ride, usually 7 - 8 hours, 8 ball, 7 ball. Weeknights, an hour/night average. We will be breaking them in 3 hours and I can't wait to hear that sound......mike

i worked in a pool hall for a long time and days i wasn't working i played pool all day and into the night w/food breaks etc... But i guess the longest session would be from 5pm to 8 am partners 9ball rotate shots talking about tired i think i slept for the next two days .... i wasn't even working there yet ... the bartender at the time left her bar key at home and the owners wouldn't come lock up and she couldn't leave to get it so she went to sleep on the bar and we played pool...

So, do you have yourself a 9-5?

Hey Mike, just stuck a Talisman on my stick. Look out. And just ordered a big slab from DeRamus. Look out again. We'll be talkin'... soon.

Believe it or not

I played from Thursday morning until Sunday night twice, for huge amounts of money, continuous 24 hrs. a day without even a food break. First time I played four different guys, last time only two. Had to be carried into my house the last time. Anyone you know in New Orleans can tell you this is true, it's even mentioned in my book, "The Green Felt Jungle". Am I bragging, absolutely not, it's retarded, but I did do it. :p

longest session

i played two 36 hour sessions almost back to back. (well within a week of each other).

I played 39 straight once. Played one pocket.
The guy won the first game and I was down for the next
36 hours. We stayed about even and then I upped the bet again
and took a few rail bets and won 7 in a row to finish him.

When I walked over to pay the time a well known player named Ronnie
Yarborough looked at me and said "kid i hear you got 'em. Why
didnt you just bet that from the start if thats all you were trying to do
was get the bet right!"

I laughed and he said he had never seen someone in more action in a few days than him until then. I had not been playing much and everyone
wanted a shot. I had taken vacation and figured I might as well play alot.

8 1/2 hours without taking a break of any kind. playing 8 ball for nothing.(I do this a lot)

5 1/2 hours playing 9 ball for $5 a game, i broke even.

Almost three days worth of action in New Orleans. Very few breaks at all,,,,,,damn tough town to get used to when where Im from closes up every night. A couple of bathroom breaks and not much food. When I got out of the place and back to my room I couldnt fall to sleep. Screwed my internal clock allllllll up.

longest session

I once played for two days with a few breakes, with a apache indian, when we were stationed in bremahoven germany. won $2600 ,and keep my scalph. ha, he was a good player an a gentaleman. STICK

Way back when I was young and going to college (70's)...I played for $5 a game 9 ball and 37 hours later was playing for $10 ...won $610. THis match began just after the Worlds Tourney in Los Angeles...which gets every body pumped up!!!!

18 hour all nighter playing snooker and 9ball, broke even
Oh to be 18 and free again :)

I've played from Friday til Monday and done it numerous times. Black Russians, a carton of smokes and some Desoxyn and nonstop action. I actually fared better in marathon games, than in short games. I don't remember many (any) 'sets' being played in the 60s,70 and early 80s. All action was by the game. I wasn't alone in marathon action in New Orleans. Off the top of my head, I can remember Humphrey, Tenneco, Gene The (Guppy) Machine, Danny Wong, Al Werlin, Huey,Paul Miles and a handful of others that played for days (all snappered or coked up). Oddly, all these players are still alive, but if they're like me, they're paying the piper NOW..... Hell, with my Diabetes, bad heart and bad back, I just recently played Doc Tripp from Mississippi for nine straight hours (on a 'natural). And, then I spent three days in BED.. Yeehaaaaaaaa !
