Has anyone played with a Longoni? How do they hit? Im thinking of buying a 3 cushion and maybe a pool cue, I would like to get some feedback on Longoni before I decide... thanks!

to the top.... (Id really like some input..)

They're OK. Like all production cues (low volume), they won't give you the hit of a true custom cue. I bought one new 9-years ago for $1100.00 - sold it this year for almost $800.00 which is a great return for a used semi-custom cue.

The same basic model is now about $900.00, yet one just sold on ebay for over $650.00, so they still hold their value.

I loved the leather-inlay wrap and butterfly points. Longoni makes some of the greatest wraps in the world. They're very popular in Europe, but are more well-known for billiards and 3-cushion (carom) cues.

So for hi-quality, semi-custom pool cues with great inlays, unique Italian style with very unique wraps, they're a decent choice especially since their resell value is very high. Their CAROM CUES are among the best anywhere in the world.

I would gladly buy another one, but only as a Collector piece, not as a playing cue. (Their pool cues look much better than they hit, IMHO.)

I don't have exntensive experience with Longoni, but a firend of mine had one and I shot with it a few times. My friend's Longoni played well. I can't exactly recall what it felt like when I shot with it (it was 4 years ago), but I think it was stiffer than Falcon and kind of like Schon. The construction seems to be of good quality. One very unique thing about Longoni is their wrap. My friend's cue didn't have linnen or leather wrap, it was a octagon shaped wooden wrap. It is not uncomfortable and you can get used to it quite easily. I thought the cue played pretty well.

Longoni hits like a production cue. Not great but not bad at all. Don't about their new line though. I have had one bad experience with a Longoni cue (ferrule came off), but that was back in the mid 90's. Haven't heard any other having trouble with his/her Longoni cue.

For the price, I'd go for a Schon if talking about production cues, but that's just my personal opinion.

EDIT: Longoni makes excellent billiard cues as vonRhett mentioned.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll stick with my new schon as far as a playing cue, I am interesed in the billiard cues, I play alot of golf, and I think a 3 cushion cue would be better suited to that type game, Im not 100% positive on that, but considering the banking envolved, Im seriously considering a billiard cue, I havent played with a billiard cue, period, so I wanted some input on Longoni in general to get some idea of what to expect...

I suppose I'll just have to get one to find out...

Check out Kilby cues -

If you're looking for some really good billiard or carom cues, check out Kilby cues.

I have tried one and it was pretty good. Im getting the "Tour Companion" because I travel a lot and I want to have a cue that I can bring along with me and put into my Samsonite hard luggage.

I'm not sure if you still post here, but did you get the Tour Companion? If so, what's your opinion of it?

Really, folks can tell the difference between a custom and a production cue, that uses the same pin, tip and shaft diameter and has the same weight? Sorry, I'm just not buying it.

Customs are customs because of who made it,and the quality, and the inlays, and that persons particular "style", and the better and/or more expensive woods chosen for the cue.

But hit better.... if someone could tell the difference they are some kind of idiot savant and a better man then me :)
