Longoni Pool Cue?

Nowadays my main playing cue is a custom Longoni -- euro taper, 12mm, 18.8 oz, quick-release XP joint, and with a very short ferrule (8mm). It took me a while to get used to its low squirt, but now I'm very happy with it. I've had a couple of local cue-makers admiring the craftsmanship -- it's quite original and beautiful. If you decide to get a Longoni, I suggest you get it directly from Italy since the US dealer isn't very... ehm... "reliable".

Longoni improved a lot the quality of their products in the recent years, since some good players like Fabio and Niels gave them good advice to build their cues. They have a partnership with Predator, and now Longoni can come with 314 or Z shafts, even if I, after trying both, I would go with their custom shafts.

Longoni is primarily known for Carom Cues. Ceuleman and Jaspers both play with a Longoni but I'm sure they're custom to their specs. I played 3 Cushion with one for about 5 years and was a good cue although I always felt there was something missing even though I was playing the best game of my life with it. Finally I decided to bite the bullet and order a custom cue from Dieckman. I'm still in the transition stage since several things are different but custom is the way to go if you can afford it. Production cues are hit or miss (no pun intended). They're simply manufactured and then a weight bolt is stuck in the butt to achieve a specific weight. The best thing I can say for Longoni is that they offer the wood screw. IMO a wood screw is the way to go. Not sure if he does this for pool cues. Check his site.
