Look down the shot line or the cue when using English ??

Just as the title says. When using right or left should I be focused down the shot line or down the cue. Obviously when staying on the center axis my cues is down the center of my shot line

I think you should be focused on the object ball during the final stroke. I suppose you might call that the shot line.

Well, when I aim down the shot line and I’m using center ball. I am looking straight down the cue straight thru the middle of the cue ball

Well, I think when side spin is involved, it becomes a two-step process. First determine the hit without any side spin, which becomes your base. Then re-aim the shot from there to account for squirt, depending on how much side spin and force you want to apply.

As to what to look at when you're stroking, it depends on at which point you shift your vision from the cb to the ob. Players do it at different times. But at the point the tip hits the cb --- by that time your vision should be on the ob. You will see the line from the cb to the ob peripherally.
