A banger at best...

I am currently considering purchasing a Bill Webb cue. They are quite stunning and beautiful...but I am concerned because I have never heard of him. Any inputs?

Thanks,
Shorty

Have you ever heard of Ron Haley? If the quality is good, who cares. There are plenty of hacks out there that are famous!
Billy Webb is finding a niche in the butterfly splicing form of art, and soon will give the best of them a run for their money, if not already!

A guy had one here for sale.
It was a simple 6 high points of ebony into bird's eye, with an ebony butt and white w/black spec wrap, also a 3/8-10 phenolic joint (.250" collars on butt and shafts).
Both shafts screwed on tight (that's a plus) and it hit great. Really solid cue.

Later on the same guy had a couple more of Billy Webb's cues and they all had the same charactistics. Hit great, with good balance.

Shorty, i don't think you could go wrong with one.

Good Luck.

Shorty,
Your post excited me quite a bit. I like to see new cuemakers with talent, and Billy Webb is certainly talented. I met him about 12 or 13 years ago in Seattle where he was messing around with, but wasn't making cues yet. He was building machinery and making all kinds of parts for cues as well as developing the processes he would eventually use to make cues. Well, turns out, he did his research. I just saw pictures of the latest cues he has finished, and his cues are hot! If I was offering advice about buying his cues, I'd say get them now while the price is right, before he sells them all overseas...
