I am looking for 10 total local players in the Fort Worth, TX area for the next AMERICAN ROTATION Series 6 starting January, 2015 and to hopefully get a group organized to start play.

Anyone interested in learning and playing the game with myself or another forum member out of Witten's Grill and Sports pub in Hurst, TX - on 9' Gold Crowns - please post your interest here with any questions or thoughts.

We currently have two of us committed with a third possible. We've found that once you play, experience and see your opponents game play, the great attributes of this game shine quickly and will most likely hook you like it did for me.

The latest rules and game information can be found at www.AmericanBilliardClub.com

I am very interested, though I live near Paris TX, about 140 miles and 2 hours 20 minutes away.

I am retired and so I have some freedom to act. Perhaps I could make a day of it, then spend the night at my daughter's house in north Dallas. But that is still $28 - $38 of gas, plus almost five hours of driving, just to play in one pool league. I suppose I could try to enlist another Paris player, to share the ride duties with. Do you know of any league, or small-time action, earlier that same day of the week, either at Whitten's, or nearby?

How big a commitment do you have to make to the league? The game looks similar to 14.1, with elements of Equal Offense or Fargo in it somewhere, as played like a form of a Player Ability Test though - no harm in that, as far as I can tell.

If Joe Tucker and Mark Griffin are behind this, there are some real good reputations driving this, so count me in.

The venue, per Googble:

Whitten's
1121 West Pipeline Road
Hurst, TX 76053

15 Reviews, average of 4.0. Not bad.

...seems to be only 4 tables at Whittens, though they are Gold Crowns. Good food review.

p.s. I don't know where that purple un-smiley came from, I didn't bring it, but it arrived somehow, and won't go away.

Looking for 10 new/interested AMERICAN ROTATION players in the Fort Worth, TX...

Hello Texdance -

First of all, no venue or sponsor has been officially approached for hosting or sponsoring with possibly some complimentary or reduced fee table time since we don't have 10 committed players YET. Once we have ten players, I can approach whichever location we think best suited to our play with our league plan - and according to Joe Tucker, 4.5' x 9' tables aren't REQUIRED but certainly preferred since regional events will most likely be on the larger tables.

Once we have 10 players (minimum), Joe will create the play schedules and then members will simply contact one another to schedule their own matches - so it's quite possible to arrange more than one match per day with the folks you will eventually need to compete with - and possibly even play at a members home room as long as both players agree.

Since AR is a round robin format, players will compete once with each member over a planned 9-week period, so if there are indeed 10 players, each of us plays 9 matches at $20 per match going to the league.

Witten's is a nice place (my personal opinion) and is 100% smoke free, has very good food from their grill, polite and attentive employees and now have only 3 Gold Crowns with decent cloth and nice rails and roll straight as an arrow!

Regarding other leagues or small-time action in our area, I am not familiar with any since I only play in a seasonal 14.1 league and also a home room group of players that get together regularly. I am sure there are a host of options that forum members would be quick to point out if asked :-)

I agree with your thoughts completely that with Joe and Mark behind this American Rotation series, great things are very likely! And once you play this game competitively, the magic is evident.

Please feel free to contact me directly via private message here on the forum with your info so we can stay in touch and perhaps set up a good day for you to make a trip and meet at Witten's for a few matches and a great burger!

I'm definitely looking forward to playing in such a league. I really think American Rotation is one of the "fairest" games out there. Call shot and call safe make a huge difference in luck perception. Witten's would be my choice pool hall at the moment, but Rusty's (either location) also has 9-foot tables. It's too bad that Texas has mostly 8-foot tables.

We have three players familiar with and playing American Rotation so far that are committed to the Fort Worth group. Once again, if anyone wants to get together at Witten's in Hurst, TX (NEXT WEEK) any day Monday the 10th, Wednesday the 12th, Thursday the 13th or Friday the 14th of November and play a match between 11am and say 4pm, just let me know. It's possible that SAMIEL in this thread may be available to play one of those days as well after work. Whomever wants to match up with me for a game, the table time is on me no matter the outcome :-)
