Pre-Cat Predator 314 (3/8-10; Needs Minor Re-Facing)
Hello,
I have an early
Pre-Cat" 314 shaft, for a 3/8-10 pin, measuring 12mm, with LePro medium or hard tip.
The shaft rolls straight on its own, but when assembled on a McDermott butt, there is a minor lift of the tip.
This means that the joint needs to be "
re-faced" by a cue repairman.
From what I understand, the procedure is relatively inexpensive; similar to having a tip installed. Around
$15.00. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
I planned on taking the shaft to this year's Super Billiards Expo to have it re-faced, and then I was going to put it up for sale.
The shaft has a hariline crack at the collar, and it has been repaired. It is
tight and sealed, and thus, a non-issue.
The shaft is very smooth and free of any nicks or dings. There is some minor finish imperfection at the collar, as seen by pics in the link that follows.
I tried this shaft and it hits extremely well. One could play with it as is, or have the shaft re-faced. I'm not sure it re-facing it makes any improvement in its play? As I've stated, when the shaft is rolled on a table by itself, it rolls perfectly straight.
If you're looking for an early Predator, "Pre-Cat" 314, it can be yours for only
$75.00. This includes shipping,
and as I'm feeling generous,
I'll include a brand new Tiger Sniper tip, a $14.00 value.
Here are some pics of this shaft:
