looking for a billiard cue......

JesPiddlin, some DieHards would say Wooden joint, other Schuler use Metal pin. The Dieckman Coin Cue as mention above use a Radial pin. Adams Cue Have diffent type they use. H. Martin and some of Bert Schrager Carom Cue have the 3/8" x10 SS pin. Just as there are numerous different taper- European, Conical, Some 3C players have their own taper design. The weight of Cue 16 to 18 ozs ideal , length 54" to 57" [55" or 56" standard]. Some like a thich butt, some don't. Ferrule 3/4", Tip 12mm to 12 1/2mm

Gene should design the Carom Cue with his style in mind and then test play it. the wooden screw can be tricky to match up.

I alway throught this cue http://www.crowncues.biz/2010.html would of made a nice Carom Cue, if the weight could be reduce.

There would be no problem with the joint, then.

Gene does different tapers. No problem, there.

My playing cue is only 16.2 ounces and he makes quite a few cues pretty lightweight. No problem, there.

He makes them as short as 29", I believe. So, no problem, there.

Gene makes the butts different sizes, when requested. No problem, there.

Gene makes ferrules of different materials and different lengths and tip sizes are often reduced to 12mm - 12.5 mm, when a player requests it. So, no problem, there, either.

Absolutely no problem, there.

So, what have you guys been waiting for? From what I'm reading, Gene can make a carom cue for just about anyone who wants to order one! Yes, he can even make a similar cue to the 2010 model you pointed out, although different (lighter weight) woods might be necessary.

He does take orders........Who wants the first one?

Gene just said tonight that he will probably start off using the 3/8-10 aluminum pin into wood threads. That way, it's similar to what he's already been doing, but even lighter weight.

Thanks for making a post that caught my attention and made me not look before I responded, Chenz!

Y'all have a great day!

Remind Gene that most/some players use a 12" rubber [color] sleeve on their butt. So he should take that into account when designing a carom cue.

The weight of Cue 16 to 18 ozs ideal

.- That's ideal for "LIBRE" or Balkline (traditional carom, no cushions needed)

For 3 CUSHION (my favorite and the most popular carom variation worldwide) a heavier cue is preferred (18 to 20 ounces) with a longer shaft.

For "Libre", the shaft length is around 67 cm, 11 mm tip diameter.

For 3 Cushion the shaft length is between 69 to 71 cm, with a 11.5 to 12 mm tip Diameter.

27.5 inches (The Schuler carom shaft) is the standard in America.

Mine is 19.75 ounces (560 grams) with a 12mm tip, and 27.5 inches (almost 70 mm) European taper shaft, also called "Eiffel Tower" taper

The stiffest taper is CONICAL and is also the preferred taper.

Overall, the Carom cue is rear balanced with a wood to wood joint (wooden joint or any other very light kind of joint)

My 2 cents
