I first ran into the Jacoby Edge cues at the WI BCA tournament this year and I will try to keep my story short.
I was using a mid priced production break cue and was usually breaking fairly consistently @ 21-25 mph and about 80-90% power. This cue always seemed to require more effort to be tamed.
I wandered up to the "Break Contest" and took a few swings...
21.4, 23.6, 22.0 mph... (I'm sure the radar was off a little)
Out of the corner of my ear, "Would you like to try our Edge Break cue?"
Of course I said yes. I paid the man another $10 to organize three racks of nine ball so I could embarrass myself once more.
Rack #1 - 100% Power = 29 mph w/balls flying everywhere including the cue flying 5' straight up and bouncing off.. disqualified =(
Rack #2 - 80% Power = 24.7 mph and a successful break! Two balls fall and I'm at the top of the leader board.
Rack #3 - 80% Power = 24.5 mph successful once again! One ball in and a beautiful spread.
I ended up winning the round of 50 spots and for my efforts I received a $200.00 Jacoby gift certificate which after some brief haggling awarded me a brand new Jacoby Edge cue w/ Samsara tip. Not bad for $20 eh?
Later that day I went back and noticed there were three spots left on the new sheet and the fastest break was 23.5 mph... To keep it fair they had decided that no one person can win 1st place twice for the duration of the tournament. After more haggling and arguing of semantics, I paid the nice man to organize more racks for me and allow me to play for 2nd place. Wouldn't you know... I won another gift certificate worth $100.00 which happened to be just enough for my beloved jump cue.
Overall review-
Jacoby Edge is a bit plain even for a break cue but it performs better than any other single purpose cue I've ever used 10/10!
I recommend adding a Samsara tip to improve control.
