Hi all new to the forums.

Im about to purchase 4 blank shafts and I am looking for good cuemakers that would be interested/able to put a joint and ferrules on the shafts. Anyone on here that makes cues that would be interested?

Best Regards
David

post where your located it might help turn up a local guy or 2 so you wont have to ship them.

and also what kind of joint colar you would want

Hi,

I underspecified

I will have to ship them because Im located in Sweden so the shaft will ship directly from the dealer to the cuemaker.

I would like a black phenolic collar with one silver ring, 5/16x14. Prefferably a shorter ferrule. The shafts would also need finish. The shafts will be 30". Also worth mentioning is that the shafts are 0,9 to 0,675" so they will need tapering.

Best Regards

Not sure what you mean by " 0,9 to 0,675" " If you mean they are .90" at the joint end and .675" at the tip end, you have a bit of a wait! Shafts need to be turned incrementally (a little off at a time) with a resting period of weeks to months between turning. When I have shaft wood in my shop at those sizes I mentioned, they would be at least a year, maybe 2 years away from being finished. Maybe I don't understand your meaning of "0,9 to 0,675" "! The commas are puzzling. Is there something special about this shaft wood? You'd probably be better off ordering shafts from someone who already has some turned to aprox. the correct size rather than buying the wood from one place and waiting until it's ready to go in a cue. We cuemakers work on a principle of "a river of wood" We keep purchasing wood and continue processing it over a period of many years. Then when it makes it to the end of the "river" it starts getting used. We don't go to a wood store, purchase wood and immediately use it in a cue. If we did, you would not like the results!

If they're .900 you better not have any or much run out . Most shafts finish out around .840 - .850 at the joint ... You're not going to save much by supplying your own blanks . I would prefer using my own as I know what they are . I can do the job but can't warranty your blanks ... I can do a conical low deflection taper or a softer , more comfortable pro taper . I prefer the stiffer conical , if the ball doesn't go in , you don't get paid ...;)
