Looking for a Lathe

I am interested in purchasing a used metal lathe with a large spindle bore and length of at least 36". I live in Birmingham, Alabama, so any sellers would have to be located within two or three hundred miles for me to consider a purchase. I would love a machine that I could dismantle and fit in the back of my SUV (smile).

Yes, I will be using the lathe to build cues. No, I will not be looking to make fame and fortune in the cue building scene, nor will I be competition for you experts in this field. I have built three or four cues on my small metal lathe for fun, and I would like to get a better machine without spending big dollars for a new Hightower (or similar) lathe.

no help finding you one but . . .

I can't be of much help finding you a lathe but I think you will find that most everyone is in agreement that the forty inch lathe is preferred for cue building.

A lathe with one isn't going to fit in the back of your SUV but when I buy another metal lathe it will have a foot brake on it. Both for safety and convenience.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I watch the Bay frequently. Unfortunately, most good buys in the lathe area tend to be up north or out west.
