Looking for a skinny CF shaft

Easy enough to find a small tip these days but then some shafts grow rapidly and a fairly fat shaft slides through the bridge hand.

I would appreciate a measurement of CF shafts at 16" from the tip if you have a shaft with a tip under 13mm. How the shaft plays would be nice but for now a simple measurement will get me started.

Thanks for Any Assistance!

I have five CF shafts, the smallest is 11.8. I have had requests from others for smaller diameters but have not been successful in sourcing CF tubes or finished shafts at smaller diameters than 11.8

I have a 11.8 shaft now, at the tip. The problem is a very fast taper from the tip to about ten inches back, then a slower taper but a fat shaft diameter going through my bridge that I don't like.

That sounds like a pretty odd taper profile. A "pro" taper would be 5% at most for about the first 12-16" from the to tip transitioning into a more typical conical taper from that point until the joint.

Assuming you have wall thickness available, a few passes on a lathe should be able to get you a more satisfying profile. Lots of folks here can help you get that done.

I don't own or have the measured specifics but last year I hit the Cynergy 10.5 and it's easily my top choice in the CF market.

I gravitate toward small tipped conical tapered shafts and I instantly felt very comfortable with it. Although I can't speak to specifics my gut tells me it may fit your needs.

Not what happened with this CF shaft but it looks like somebody started with a typical 13mm pro taper, maybe a 12.8 or 12.4 and put a conical cut up front to get a small tip. I got this shaft new in box from a major player in pool products so I don't think for a moment that this is what happened. Just trying to describe this shaft as closely as possible. It would take a lot of turning to completely reprofile that shaft. I don't think it has the meat in that thin tube to cut that much off from tip to 16-20 inches including blending things together. Might be able to live with the current taper for five or six inches from tip and knock the hump down but I would be waiting for the shaft to shatter every time I shot hard.

I don't know, but I think I am better off to try a different brand. Of course buying a shaft sight unseen is how I got where I am at now. I had hit with a Revo several times and liked the feel and hit, tried a different brand, didn't like it nearly as well.

With shafts coming out weekly it seems like and my equipment in storage I'm just trying to find out what's on the shelf that may suit me. I have no interest in making my own carbon fiber shaft anyway.

I might try a conical taper too. I like a conical taper better than a taper that is changing styles rapidly under my hand.

Ask Goran at GO Customs to build exactly what you want.

Might be just the ticket. Thank You!!

I have a Revo 11.8 and it's a pretty even pro taper. My OB Carbon has a longer pro taper (same width for longer) but it's a 12.3 mm. I really like the taper on that but due to how the deflection is I shoot better with the Revo.
From all the shafts I tried, you can't go wrong with a Revo, unless you really want a CF shaft that feels like a wood shaft (bit more flex, deflection and a softer hit).

My supplier lists the following size tubes :
11.1 mm tip 13.8" pro taper 30" length
11.5 mm tip 15.7" pro taper 30" length
11.7 mm tip 16" pro taper 30" length
11.75 mm tip 17" pro taper 30" length

I do not carry any of these sizes in stock as they fall on the small end of CF shaft tip diameters. For comparisons,
Jacoby Black was origionally 12.4/12.5 tip diameter with approximately 16" pro taper. They currently offer several other size configurations.
My supplier offers 80+ different choices of size configurations. Sanding or turning is not recommended.
