Looking for cheap races to 100 sometime in the next few days for practice. @ the Broken Rack in Emeryville or nearby. Will spot balls if necessary. Thx.

Buddha my friend, you would have more luck if you wanted to play head up Canasta. Straight pool has been dead in California for at least 50 years.
Even the east coast transplants have had to switch to one pocket or nine ball to get any pool action.

Well, you're welcome to play tonight at the 14.1 league at Shoreline in Mountain View. It starts at 6PM and you could probably get in two matches. I'm guessing you're getting ready for the straight pool tournament at Hardtimes.

Is that an individual league that you can just show up and play in?

Thanks!

If you can meet me at Edgies in Milpitas or better yet Shoreline Billiards in Mountain View and we can play 14.1 all day long, I am practicing for the 14.1 tournament at Hard Times in Bellflower on July 26th, 27th.

There are 3 14.1 leagues happening in the South Bay every week.
Monday @ Lucky Shot Billiards in Sunnyvale
Tuesday @ Shoreline Billiards in Mountain View
Saturday @ Crown Billiards in San Ramon

Straight pool is still alive and well. Its a classic game and played at a very high level with the current group of young pros.
Holmann, Schmidt, Immomen, Engert, Archer........etc

If you are looking for a STRAIGHT pool game then I would suggest going somewhere besides San Francisco, lol.
Just can't rep you any more. Gotta "spread it around."

Exactly. It is $10 per match, with handicaps according to the relative strengths of the players. The best players usually go to 140 or 150. If a medium player plays against a weak player, the match might be 100-45. I've had to give up 140-20, but usually the LO tries to avoid really lop sided matches.

You can play as many matches as you can arrange each night, with the first set starting about 6PM and the second set starting whenever a couple of matches have finished. I think some people have played three matches in a night, but you're looking at midnight for a finish time.

$5 of the entry goes into the prize fund which the top 8 players play off for at the end of the season, and the other $5 goes towards table time. There are also prizes for high runs according to percentage of your expected high run for your rating.

Not to be argumentative, but it is also ignored by RA, Ether,Buddy, Efram,
Earl, Archer, Shannon, and many others. Mainly because it is about as exciting as Bowling. (appolgies to the bowlers online)Come and get me!!!

I see that's on the 12th on PHX. Couldn't you talk Wayne into playing at Broken Rack?
