Gaboon Ebony Mottey Merry Widow Wanted...................

You should contact Mike at Omega Billiards http://www.omegabilliards.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=146 because he has exactly what you are looking for. I saw the solid ebony Mottey cue (ivory joint, lizard wrap, and fancy trim rings) at the US Open last week. From your description of what you want the cue he has is the cue you are looking for. I checked his web site and the ebony Mottey isn't shown, but he has it and I held it in my hands Friday morning at the Open. I didn't ask the price since I wasn't buying.......

I saw it at the Open too. I shot a few balls with it. Hits pretty nice. The butt was 15.1 oz and both shafts weighed 4.0 oz. Both shafts had ivory ferrules and were 12.9 mm. Had a real lizard wrap. Piloted ivory sleeved joint. Blue tiffany diamonds over 2 thin ivory rings for ringwork at the joint and at the butt sleeve. The cue does not have a weight bolt and is not tapped for a weight bolt either. The cue is balanced neutral. The butt sleeve had a small chip in the finish.

Thanks for you input there spanky........ but we couldn't work out a deal on that cue at 1600 since it sat here on the forum unsold for 1400 for a month..... I just think it is overpriced.

Ebony Mottey cue

I don't know what you plan to spend, but since Paul Mottey isn't building cues anymore and it's exactly what you described that you wanted you may want to reconsider whether it's overpriced. I've never seen another Mottey like that cue - ivory joint, lizard wrap, fancy trim rings, and it's an ebony cue. If you really want a Mottey cue like that one and since Paul isn't building cues anymore I don't think you are going to find another one.

I have a cue right now that sold here on the forum and I was really interested in it, but while I was thinking about buying it someone else bought it. I regretted not buying it since it was exactly what I wanted for a playing cue and about a month later it showed up for sale again for $100 more than it originally sold for. I made the seller an offer of $50 more than he paid for it and we made a deal. I was very glad to get a second chance to buy the cue and it was made by a cue maker whose still building cues. I wish i'd bought it the first time, but since I didn't I was glad I got another shot at buying it even if I had to pay a little more. My point is really how bad do you want an ebony Mottey cue and i'd forget about what it sold for in the past and ask yourself how bad do you want it?
