I need a brass ring to match an inexpensive mcdermott.
It looks like .020". Atlas has .015 and .030. Does anyone have one
or know where I can get one? Or maybe I am just measuring wrong?
much obliged,
Josh

Since you haven't stated where this ring goes, other than on an inexpensive McD., I'm going to assume that you're speaking of the joint.
McD. uses .015" metal rings, sandwiched btwn. 2- black .020" fiber rings sandwiched btwn. a .155" & a .165" urethane rings.

You can forgo the black fiber rings if you are replacing the urethane rings with blk. phenolic rings.
Add .020" to each of the blk. phenolic rings. Since the urethane is considered 'soft', they use the fiber rings to keep the metal ring from widening-out.
Your ring-cutter is being mailed to you tomorrow. I'll send a brass ring with it.

Hope this helps.

Another way around it would be to glue in your rings individually, then on the brass ring use a .030 ring using super glue, then face it down to the .020 you need. By using CA on that one, the heat from facing it won't loosen the glue like using epoxy would. Plus another mention is that most of the time a ring 'pushes' over as it's cut, and can measure larger than it reallly is, it may be the .015 with a little push over.
