Looking for cue or/and advice!

Hi! Looking for a beginner "soft" hitting type of cue with budget of 150/300$.
Play mostly with pool hall cues but I did tried recently and liked Mezz EC7, Pechauer JP,
yesterday Meucci (didn't noted the exact models) which was great even if
I'm not 100% convinced about LD shafts, all buttons felt very solid but they are also more expensive.
Straight cue is good enough for me. Preferably with 11.75/12.50 tip - not because i feel i should
make any demands with my budget at the moment 😄

Owned one cue in the past, can't even remember what brand it was, haha.
Don't know generally speaking much about cues so If anyone don't have any cue to sale
but can recommend what type of cue could suit my type of stroke, i would appreciate it!

For that price range n solid cue, I’ll recommend falcon cue, those are solid n older model Canadian made are as good as any other cue.
Try it out. And good luck.
 
I have a Cuetec Avid I bought for my grandson and all of a sudden he doesn't like the color red !
Brand new never chalked up and only test hit maybe 6 balls , I'd sell it for $ 230.00 and split the postage with you .
 
IMHO...Getting a cue with a wood to wood joint coupled with an or Kamui SOFT tip will produce the soft hit you're looking for.
Schon with an Elk Master tip, although having a 5/16-14 steel joint has always been a solid hitter and it is made here in the USA. If you ever need an extra shaft just order one and it will fit perfectly without having to send your cue away to have one fitted. I'd go your local pool room and see if you can try some different cues to see what best suits you before you buy.

Look for a decent used McDermott or Meucci, implex joint, soft tip. There's always Rhino cues. CF might be to firm for you tho. Why do you want a soft hit, if you don't mind me asking??

McDermott G224A Cue with G-Core shaft

Have barely notice any cues with wood to wood joints. I thought they were more common. Those I found are way over my budget at the moment. Schon are also very expensive. Besides maybe Mezz, I would preferably want stick to something made in US or EU. In Stockholm, there's only one store you can visit and I'm even not 100% sure if you can test shoot anything because they have moved. Was calling them earlier today but no one answers, haha. Will go and try to visit them on Monday... Thanks!
 
I ordered the following in 7/2023 from Schmelke - was $200 shipped:
  • R040 Cocobolo 4-Prong Spliced Cue Sneaky Pete
  • 3/8x10 wood to wood joint with very thin black style joint rings, if possible, like the M series joints, but slimmer / less noticeable
  • standard maple shaft (no / minimal UV coating please), standard length and ferrule, 12.5mm diameter, long pro taper
  • cheapest soft layered leather tip
  • 19 ounces, forward weighted as possible
I think it is right up your alley (my cue is not for sale but you could get one from them)...

Meucci are very nice. Like them a lot but some people claim that they are "inconsistent"? Looking also for used McDermott, they told me that some of those made in the 90's are on the softer side. If I don't find any used cue, I will go for the "Lucky" or maybe "Star" serie from McD. Planning to attend 2 tournaments in Poland at the end of January so it would be nice to play and get at least little used to one cue. I've visited now 5 pool halls this week in and outside of Stockholm and no one had literally nothing to sell and if they did its around +1000$. Many here play with and sell Predator - not my cup of tea. I think its more fun to play with softer type of cues. They have some kind of "artistic" feel to it. Stiffer cues bring more consistency tho! Never heard about "Rhino", will look them up, thank you! What are you playing with? If i might ask.

No worries! I actually edited that video for my music purposes but then thought its maybe helpful for someone with more pool knowledge to advise about cue types based on a stroke (rationally speaking, i really have no clue if its helpful or not!) 😄

Was looking at the CC113 by Schmelke last week but the postage was around 60$ and i was not sure how it is with taxes - Sweden, looooves taxes ;) Now its out of stock... Have you played with yours? How was it?

yes, very good hit with my sneaky (is full splice) and the CC113 looks nice also and I'm sure they can make one for you (I would get it with all black in the joint). both should be similar to the mcdermott cues I've had in the past and my current Carmeli and Jim Pierce cues. they all have / had that great wood to wood 3/8x10 joint hit and I would stay with a standard maple shaft for now (no LD, no CF). yes, unfortunately shipping and taxes are not cheap internationally...
