Looking for information on R series shaft inserts

I would like to know where one could find a shaft insert with the old thread pitch Schon used for the R and S series.

This might be the ticket. I am not sure what Schon was in fact useing then. I only know that the new shafts will not thread onto an old pin. I was told that the thread patterns were the same, but, the thread pitch is different.

I have a frined that owns an S series or one that predates that. His joint is flat faced and he would like to one day have another shaft made for the cue. He would also like to go with a micarta ferrule since that is what is on the original shaft. Trying to figure out how much of a pain this might be to pull off.

You need to measure the o.d. of the joint screw. 5/16X14 is one of the most screwed up sizes. Some Schon's used a .302X14 and the full size screws range from .305 to .312 in size.
The same can almost be said for the 3/8X10. Jan mfg makes one size that is very close to what McDermott uses, Atlas has their own version besides the flat bottom and the pitch is way to deep. Schmelke makes another one also where the pitch is not as deep. Hope some of this helps.

I also appreciate any inforation that BIll has given. It goes without saying that I have nothing but respect for the cue makers that give so much information on a dialy basis.
