Hello everyone

I am looking to make a cue with a Crown buttcap like this:

I would appreciate if you can let me see some of your cue with this design as well as if you can also tell me the maker as i have yet to find one.

Most of the cuemaker i have asked does not do it. I know blackboar does but its a little way out of my budget.

Tony is no doubt the best at this design.

I think there is another Maryland cuemaker that can do this butt cap. Rick and Richard Phillippi. Give them a call and see if they can help you out. They do nice work as well.

James White does do this. And you'lkl be getting one of the best looking and playing cues from a master cuemaker.

Dan Dishaw, Jerry McWorter, Ken Murrell, and a few others all can do this type of buttcap too. It may be a signature of Tony Scianella (Black Boar), but there are quite a few others that can do this as well. Ask around with some cuemakers you're interested in. Heck! If they don't do it, some are actually willing to collaborate with other cuemakers. Its been done before.

Well you could, the rates are pretty good right now for a home equity line of credit, LOL!

Id rather have a JMW anyway, or any cue but a BB, IMHO.

I don't think you are mistaken. I too remembered seeing more then one of James White cues with that design. But i could not find a picture of it.

I dare not even think about asking BB. I might need to take up a mortgage before i do!

I think its clear that the person to go to would be Jame White.

Is he on his own now or does he still work out of Mr Paul Mottey's place?

Does anyone have an update on his current availability and price would be like? Still within the realm of sanity i hope. Though judging by the works he is churning out he really have no reason to need to price his cue affordably.

Please show me a picture of a James White Crown buttcap if you have one.

The same reason you love to sing Black Boar's praises. Its his opinion. Which he is entitled to.

Is there any reason that you decided to post "Only one" as an answer to MasterCalss' question with a BB but above when its already been made pretty clear that Tony is NOT the only one?!?!

I gotta say, I agree with Pauly. I would choose any one of a dozen different cuemakers before grossly overpaying for a Black Boar.



Oh, and MasterClass-

James does still work at the Mottey shop but he does have his own email. I'll send it to you now via PM.
