looking for serious practice partner in central/south va

i'm looking for someone who is super serious about pool in the central/south va area.

i'm near richmond, and have a table.

would be nice to find someone that is actually SERIOUS about playing pool.

bar and league bangers need not apply. (playing league is ok, but if pool is just going to be a hobby....thats not serious enough)

I might be in for some ring game action coz that is the way to learn to run out! I would need some advance notice and we could to meet at JJs in Fredricksburg( abouut exit 126 or so off 95) or Richmond might be ok for me too.

If you spot the money balls its a great way to learn combos and caroms also!!

that wouldn't be a bad idea.......hmmmm.

say like a 100 or so buy in, spot the money balls, or whatever rules we decided on.

have 3-5 people put up, 50 or a 100(cheap enough not break anyone, and enough to make it interesting)

set a certain amount of time to play 3 hours, 5 hours, whatever.

and the person with the most money balls at the end gets the pot, or you could pay the first and second. whatever.

would be a good practice session, and a chance to have some pressure put on you, and not break anyone.

its a little far for me, but id love to do it if it wasnt. Im about an hour and 1/2 below lynchburg. Would be cool if we could meet somewhere more central to all of us, id be in for that occasionally
 
not far from bedford co, matter of fact my girlfriend lives there, but i happen to be in henry county, closer to martinsville
 
hmmm, instead of being a weekly poker game, we could have a weekly, or monthly would probably be more convenient ring game.

this could be the start of a new trend here.

I grew up there...have family there...was just there as a matter of fact.

cool landshark, where do you live now?

and vap, yeah a monthly pool game, that might be interesting. Like someone suggested, maybe a 50 or 100 per man buy-in, then do some kind of ring game. If its several of us, maybe do something like the skins format where somebody stays up 3 games in a row to win, i dont know. We could even do a series of smaller ring games and maybe the ones not playing could look to matchup on the sides, plenty of possibilities.

How about all of those "Deliverance" type guys roaming the hills. Fact is, anybody near the WVA line should just go in the other direction. :eek:
 
ok, anyone in the virginia area, that could make it to fredericksburg once a month, PM me. i figure that would be the best place, since most everyone in the va area seems to be in northern va.

i think it was a great idea that black balled came up with for a ring game to practice.

i think it would be nice if we could get 3-5 players to get together once a month and put up anywhere from 50-100 buy in up, and then we play for a set amount of time, and the person with the most money balls wins the pot.

or we could pay out 60-40 or 70-30 percent to the first and second place.......but i'd say paying more than the top 2 would cut it up too much. of course with 5 people, it would be easy to pay the top two, but with only 3 people, of course the winner would get it all.

we could play a ring game format, or a skins game format. i personally like the ring game format, as it really forces you to learn to run out.

so anyone that would be interested in this and can make it once a month shoot me a pm, and i can see if i can work out the logistics between everyone.

and i'll leave it up to everyone if they want to put a cap on the skill level of player we would let play.

i personally play at a B+/A- level, but if its once a month, and not for a ton of money, i don't care who plays.

play at sidepocket...it's plenty players your skill level that would jump at a ring game
