I'm in the market to buying a new break cue. My question is does any1 have any recomendations on a good break cue without breaking the bank. I'm kinda leaning to the bk2 but to me it is a little spendy for a cue i will only use to break with.

Well, if your looking at the BK2, but want a JB cue, then look at the Xtreme Breaker.

I've heard nothing but good things about this JB cue.

Plus you have endless amounts of custom cue makers who make a damn nice JB too. Gilbert, HighTower, Josey, Xtreme Breaker, It's kinda one of those things about how much you want to spend, litterally, if are looking at a BK2 and can afford it, i think you can afford a Gilbert or the others i mention'd too.

Well, let me get on the informercial then.:D :D

Here are pictures of our new X Breaker golden oak style, which will be debut around end of August to beginning of September.

I am very busy trying to meet all the back orders, I am hoping to fill them all by the end of this month. I am not sure if I can have any extra for the public but I will try my best.:) I have been totally out for a few months now.

PS...Thank you so much for everyone's patience and supports. Just hang in there, you will all be very satisfied with what the new version has to offer.:) :)

Pat Diveney makes a great J/B cue with a G-10 Glass tip/ferrule combo. I have 1 and highly recommend it. It holds chalk better than the phenolic kind. Pat posts here under "Butterflycues" PM him and ask him questions, or go to www.INDYQ.com and order one, $285. Roy's sold out at this time, but will be getting more soon, I'm sure.

i just dont buy all of this stuff regarding how great one break cue is, how it really smashes a rack, how its better than others, etc, etc.

the balls dont know whats hitting them. if you want to get by with as few as $$$ laid out as possible, why not have a cuemaker make you a break shaft for one of your cues?

i have had custom and production break cues as well as the aforementioned break shaft for my Nova/Jacoby cue, cant say any are better than the others.

For example, i had this conversation with a player once:

DCP: "Hey Tom, i got my break cue!"

Tom: "Does it make balls?"

i thought that was a stupid question, like there is something magical, mystical, or supernatural about a cue. you can take a $10 one piece house cue, and if you hit the rack solid its going to spread em and make a ball just as good as a $400 break cue will, in my opinion.

One of the Better Players in the Valley use a Hammerhead J/B. Think it was 125-150 on the BAY.

I see a lot of guys use Predator Brak cues also...

What's your comfort price point? J&J makes an ok Jump Break for around $50.00. An entry level custom breaker can be between $200-$500. For exapmle, my first custom break cue was a Bob Frey sneaky converted to have a phenolic ferrule and tip for around $300. Custom Gilbert (ann other makers) breakers can get into the $1000+ range.

You can definitely get a nice one somewhere in that spectrum, it's just a matter of preference.

Maybe this is why you do not get the run outs you like. :D

Along the lines of my X-Breaker... Yes it does make balls... a lot of them :D:D:D

So my recommendation is an X-Breaker. Its the best IMO. I have broke with a lot of cues before coming to this purchase. Talk to Richard (nipponbilliards) he will get you all the info you need. He has the best customer service I have ever dealt with online and is very loyal to his customers. (In return I am very loyal to him and his products)

i had a Custom Break Cue a couple of years ago, and one saturday afternoon i wasnt having any luck off the break with it. i put it away, pulled out one of my old, original one piece cues i had on the wall rack from when i got my very first table, and started to break with it.

and man, did the balls start to drop! ran some racks, was on cloud nine! later that evening, the one piece house cue's loyalty faded away, and i went back to my Cuetec butt with a break shaft for it. once again, balls started to drop, and i ran some racks. then on sunday, the Cuetec/Shaft combo lost its loyalty, and i went back to the custom break cue.

i get a ball down with decent regularity, its just that i dont get any decent spreads 98% of the time, thats what kills me............

J&J $50.00
Fury $125
BK2 $350ish?
X-Breaker(2) $375

For me, I'd get the x-Breaker in a heartbeat. If your not willing to spend that, the first two are very nice for the price point.

The Break Shot just like anyother shot on the table is has to be practiced, if you want to have any real success. Now just like with a regular cue an accomplished player can play with just about anything, but that's not to say that an accomplished player can't play even better with a quality cue.

The Break Cue is no different, I suggest that you purchase the best break cue that you can for what you can afford. I personally recommend the Predator BK2, but that's me. I can honestly say that it works, the quality is excellent. I haven't had any ill feelings what so ever and this is my 3rd one.
My Original BK I sold because I needed the extra money, I regretted it untill I was able to replace it. My second BK I sold when I purchased my new BK2, the new owner is a good friend of mine that before he my BK he was unable to make a ball on the Break with any regularity due to a shoulder injury he has no real power, with the BK he's happily now making 2 sometimes 3 balls on the break on a regular basis, without doing anything different other than the cue.

Whatever your decision make certain that it's of good construction, strong shaft, hard tip. Leather is fine, pheonic's not for everyone although I like the tip on the BK2 alot, holds chalk well and is very consistant.

I have a gibert b/j..............it is a four point of cocobolo into birdseye maple and the handle is made out of some of the nicest looking coco that i have ever seen. It also has a phenolic tip on it and breaks the balls incredibly well. I dont play alot of nineball anymore and I might contemplate selling this cue. I might part with this cue.................. pm me
