Looking To Have A Custom Cue Made

I would like a full splice sneaky (fancy) made.
I am looking for a cuemaker who does their own splicing. I understand this reduces my list of possibilities but I’d really like this cue to be 100% constructed by the same maker.

Ebony into curly maple forearm
Four small diamond shaped inlays (Ivory-one at the base of each point)
Hoppe Ring- Ivory
Collar – Ivory
Ferrule-Ivory

2 shafts are preferred

3/8x10 pin
Flat faced joint
19.5-20oz

I would like to spend less than $700 if possible.

If the ivory is the deal breaker, I am willing to look at less expensive materials.

Thanks for your time,

Rick

Travis Nicklich (Blackcreek)
Darrin Hill

You would probably have to use an Ivory substitute with thes guys to hit your number.

Both are excellent

Scott Gracio and Lee Peppers both make awesome Full Spliced cues.

I own cues from both of them and love them both.

I would also contact Paul Sumrall of S&S Custom Cues.
His prices are very reasonable & his cues play very solid.
Tell him I sent you.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody.
I'd be happy to have a cue from any of those guys.

Goodluck getting someone to make you a custom cue, with all of that for $700 or less. If someone does agree to build you a cue that cheap, i'd like to know, i'll have one built grin::grin::yeah::yeah:

Nothing IMHO hits as well as a Judd Sp, so, buy one of those Davis blanks,
and send it to Judd, about 800 later, your gold! Inlay work???.......All flash.....that steals your cash, who needs it?

There is a site that has allot of Davis blanks for sell now. You can trust, Judd will work magic on it.

http://www.superiorcues.com/JDBlanks1.html

My picks for that work would be

#53
#90
#93
#101 (if ya want to blind people)

Just make sure you pick one with the splice done right, some of those i see look off.
(make sure the butt splice wood, is even, and sharp, not blunt, or missing)

With this idea, you get the custom blank you want, with the reputation of judd making really really good hitting cues. Instead of going with some b rate maker, just because he makes his own blanks.....I think that's solid advice.

Good luck

Good Luck getting all that ivory at that price,
I say check with the Jacobys or Steve Klein. Both make nice hitting cues and are always one of a kind.

"Has anyone heard from Mark lately? I haven't tried for a few months but couldn't find him by email or phone this spring."

Dave,
I've been in contact with Mark within the past few weeks but it was only one email. He quoted me a pretty fair price. I emailed him again asking about some other specifics but have not heard back yet. I hope all is well with him.

I don't need luck...I have cash. I also have patience.

It's all about the negotiation. You start off asking for exactly what you want at a price you would like to pay. If it happens that the cost is a little more, I'm happy as long as I still get what I want. As the original post indicates I'm not set on a price or on the materials used.
If terms aren't agreed to then you find another contractor. More than one person can make a widget. As you can see several have been listed.

FYI- I've had one very prominent cuemaker offer to make exactly what I wanted at a price very close to my original figure.
I'd say I'm not too far off.

I really appreciate the suggestions and a big thanks to the cuemakers who responded.

I still haven't pulled the trigger but getting very close.

Thanks again,

Rick

PM sent ill do everything you want except use faux ivory for the hoppe ring only. ivory everywhere else and one shaft and build pics sent every 3-4 weeks to show progress for 600 shipped. 700 for ivory hoppe ring.

lemme know

50% down then the rest due when the cue is finished.

Rick,

IMHO, Jerry does some exceptional fullspliced work and his points and veneers are top-notch!

I know he had some old ebony in his shop a few months back and, I know he can make you whatever you want -- he is an extremely nice fellow to work with on a cue project and, his cues are very affordable plus, play well to boot.

I'm not sure about the Ivory with two (2) shafts for your current budget but, you may be able to live with some Elforyn or something else to lessen the price.......or, perhaps just save a few extra $$$ in the meantime during the build to get exactly what you want!?

Have fun,

Ken
