looking to sell table, need advice.

I have an 8ft table I am looking to get rid of. I have never bought or sold a pool table so I am not sure how to move it. So I am looking for advice before I post a thread in wanted/for sale.

basically I just need to get rid of the table, I am not going to ask for any price on it or anything. I just want the buyer to pay for the costs of moving the table and etc.

How long does it take to take apart and move a pool table? Is the buyer paying for the moving of the table normal?

giveing it away would be a very good deal most repaires and installers
would charge 500. or more to take it apart and put it back together
depends on how far they have to hall it . what kind of table and shape
it is in . you could ask a few hundred dollars , and let the buyer be in charge of moving it . i am not a mechanic . i have took tables apart
and put them back together . most people that would want a table
could do it. what i do is mark all the parts put skirts back on same side
they came off , do the same with each part. if we lived in same town
i would be glad to have it . hope this helps you .

Johns on the right track-
Depending upon what kind of table it is, and who is doing the disassembly, can make differences in time.
Some tables can be stripped and packed in 30 minutes, some may take an hour or two....and antiques from a certain era also take special tools to take apart that most people have never heard of. I think Dartman sells them, I haven't looked at his site in a while (sorry slacking)
Alot of people just show up with some drinking buddies, grab ahold and go- and never realize what damage they are about to do before they get started.
Referring someone to do the work is also helpful, or if you add the table move into the price and work it out with the table mech, you might have a faster sell as well-
But "free" you come get it, seems to be the fastest way- just make sure that nothing at your place gets damaged during the removal.......

If no takers try Craigs List or your local newspaper classifieds.
 
I'd check the Table Mechanic Directory for someone in your area. If there's one listed, I can guarantee you that they probably know someone that would love to have a table for just the price of moving and assembling it.

John's estimate of $500 to move and assemble might be a little high depending on the market, the table, and the distance of the move. Here in the midwest I move most 8ft tables for around 300 to 350. But of course in markets with a higher cost of living that'll be much higher.
