Lots of APA Drama Lately

Of course, but bitching about people being drunk assholes at a bar is fucking dumb. Go to classier bars if that's not your thing.

The complaining was about the stereotype drinking , fighting, etc the op's story portrays .

I wish we still had a pool hall out here, I get tired of trashy bars to be honest.
I am about 8 miles from a local pool hall. I agree with you that bars/pool can bring in people who primarily want to drink and cause arguments/fighting/hustling. This is where pool gets a trashy name.

Agreed. Our only pool hall out in Utah that wasn't a bar closed about 5 years ago or more now. The owner died unfortunately and it went to hell. Now it's just a few bars (some nicer than others).

Anyone ever get kicked in the balls after winning a match? I guess it's the replacement for shaking hands, among the younger generation (I'm about 35 years older than the guy). I tried to shake hands with him after the match, and put my hand on his shoulder when he wouldn't turn around to acknowledge my presence, and...Wham! Well, I'm happy to say it wasn't a direct hit, but I was 'almost' too surprised to respond. He was a tiny guy and I'm not, so the response was mild but firm. I didn't see any point in mentioning the event to the league office, as he will now be eternally known in our league as "nut-kicker", which is probably punishment enough.

In any case, I look forward to my next TAP match. Vastly different experience.
You should have shown him some cash! If he asked what it’s for tell him it’s for the new teeth he’s going To NEED!

You have less right to kick someone. A functioning human (go out and meet one sometime) would not escalate a hand on the shoulder from someone trying to get his attention to a kick of any sort.

Are you there guy who kicked Scott?
It does no good to debate with some people, some are less than normal and others are normal, normal people do not consider touching someone on the shoulder battery, especially after spending the last 30-60 minutes in close proximity to one another, maybe even a little casual conversation.

For some reason I'm having a difficult time quoting, but this is in response to @SJpilot

No, I wasn't picking a fight with him at all - quite the opposite. I knew he was angry, but I thought he was just mad at himself for playing so poorly.
I've walked away from a table a little upset before, and the other player came over and smoothed things over - it's common, and I actually appreciate it. I've seen calmer players try to do this many times with angry losers over the 20 years I've played in APA. Maybe it's not normal in all regions of the U.S.?

In any case, I'm sure there are many players who don't even try to shake hands if someone walks away upset. In my experience players who are clearly angry when they lose appreciate a handshake and honest conciliatory remarks. It's just a game and we're supposed to be having fun - a reminder of this in a friendly way is usually appreciated.

I'll leave this thread now - I thought it was humorous and really didn't think I would get judged like this. But ... I haven't posted much on AZ lately and had forgotten how things usually go.
Sounds like your intentions were pure. That being said, walking up behind someone in a bar and touching them, is usually a recipe for disaster, regardless of whether or not a game of pool is involved. My advice going forward, enjoy your win, and let the other player cool off on his/her own time.

Physical attacks are never acceptable. In fact neither are verbal. It is a reminder to me to watch what I type in here.
