It’d been awhile but it was because my friend returned the Schmelke Kielwood shaft for replacing the short ferrule
that is standard with a 1” Juma ferrule. He wants all of his pool cues shafts to be alike & have the same sight picture.
While this was being performed, he ordered a 2nd Kielwood shaft, flat faced version, and told David to ship both shafts
at the same time. He is experimenting with different tips than he has on his other cues & may change these some point.
Attached are photos of the two Schmelke Kielwood shafts he received earlier this week. The shafts are 30” long, 13 mm and weigh 4.6 ozs and 4.1 ozs.; threads are 5/16x14 and 3/8x10. Appearance wise, the shafts look really great.
Included is a photo of 3 shafts (my Barnhart RMS and his Schmelke Kielwood). The shaft in the middle is my Barnhart.
I hit with one his cues today and acoustically it sounded terrific. It was the on a Joss Color of Money cue butt (N7).
I liked the Schmelke Kielwood shaft. The finish was outstanding, it looked great, it hit like my Barnhart except for the
fact I have Kamui Black Clear with a soft tip and he plays with a medium tip. David delivered 2 perfectly straight shafts.
Since I am not able to persuade Cory to use a different approach and build me a big pin RMS shaft, I’m really inclined
to contact David Schmelke and order a Kielwood shaft. The quality seemed top notch and he’s much more affordable.
