Low deflection shaft for Schon, questions...?

I love the 314-2 on my Schon. OB Classic and Classic Plus is also ok. I have a 314-2 for every pin that I have.

Schon has all they can do just to keep up with cue orders, they have no interest in L/D.
Consider that they use the heaviest ferrule mtrl. in the industry; Ivorine4.
If you want lower deflection (squirt) in a Schon cue, you opt for the ivory ferrule which is LIGHTER.
Schon is a small operation, employee-count wise and the market is already flooded with 'me-too' L/D shaft manufacturers.
There's at least 1/2 doz makers of L/D shafts and that's not counting the independent CMs making their own version.
The same question could be asked about SouthWest, why don't they make an L/D shaft?
Because when you have an outrageously successful business model, you don't mess with it.

I've noticed in not only this thread but others as well that everyone wants to compare their L/D shafts to Predator's.
That would pretty much make Predator the 'bench-mark'. There's good reason for that.
Predator is the innovator of the L/D shaft and it's technology, they paid the price to make it happen.
Every manufacturer since has copied Predator's engineering and technology and come up short.
If you want the best, there is only one, the best from the beginning.
Predator sells more L/D shafts than anyone else by a factor of at least 10:1. Wonder why???

Because in the first 3 years selling the new LD shafts they had $100,000.00 per year for advertizing. Have you seen any one else do that since? When Allen sold and production was sent to China the cost per shaft must have dropped dramatically and I would bet that they give away more shafts than any other company also, maybe more than all the other LD makers combined. More advertizing, more freebies = more sales. As for being the best? Other makers may not sell as many as Predator but there is a market for our products that P does not fill otherwise non of us would still be making LD shafts. For years about 1/2 of my sales came from those who owned P shafts and did not care for the hit/feelback.

In response to another post about LD being the latest and greatest... it has been around since 1994... 30 years, I have been involved for almost 25.

I used a standard Schon shaft for 15 years or so on my cue. Took 7 years off, and when I started playing again in 2008 I tried a Predator Z2 and liked it.

Since then, I've paired Z2, 314-2, OB2, BD SS360, and Mezz WD700 with my cue and all perform great, just personal preference on the shaft. My personal favorites have been the Mezz WD700 (current) and OB Classic, but each of them performs well with the solid hit of the Schon butt.

Also, I've tried both the normal 5/16x14 joint as well as the special piloted ones, including an OB Classic finished by Schon. While its comforting to have a snug fit, I've noticed no major differences in the hit, if that helps when purchasing.

I was thinking to buy 314/2 shaft for my Schon and was wondering are the other competitive products as good as 314/2... such as Tiger X, OB2 Classic, Samsara, jacoby, Pechauer LDS etc...

Should I just go with 314 or experiment...?

I've tried the Predator shafts as well at the OB shafts plus a few others. For one reason or another, I didn't like them (the finish, the ferrule, etc.). I now shoot with a Schon CX-06 and a McDermott I-3 with a 11.75mm tip diameter, a Moori soft tip, and a European taper. To me, the feel, balance and hit of the cue is just right. I would recommend you try as many LD shafts as possible to find your own liking. What's right for Tom, Dick or Harry may not be right for you. Good luck in your quest.
