Well, it depends on how mad at your money you are! If you're extremely upset that you have too much money then cue building will definitely relieve you of some of your anger! Haha
Seriously though, if you're mechanically inclined, maybe you're at least semi-familiar a lathe? If you're looking for a fun, rewarding(for some) hobby, and you're a pool enthusiast then by all means it's a great hobby to learn. There's no shortage of things to learn and avenues to explore. It's a constantly evolving artform in my mind that gives me great pleasure, for sure!
You need to have patience, creativity, money, most of all the desire! It's always easier for new people to cue building to visit a cue shop and see first hand what's involved in the production of pool cues. That will give you a good look into the equipment needed, time frames for building and so on. It's absolutely not an instant gratification hobby, unless cutting a piece of wood and watching it for a few weeks and doing it again and again! Lol.. It takes a substantial amount of time to learn processses and techniques which does lend itself to a slower pace hobby like this.
As far as cost goes, it's like anything... How much do you have? Haha.. You could get started doing repairs and simple stuff for probably $1000-$1250 low end to $100,000? lol.. How mad are you at your money?

Do you already have some wood working machinery now, table saw, bandsaw, wood lathe?
What kind of budget are you thinking of starting with?
