Lucasi pool cue sounds broken inside

I have a question for anyone who can help me out...

I have a Lucasi hybrid pool cue that makes a metallic sound with every hit and after some tests I noticed the problem is in the cue butt.

I tried changing the shaft and nothing changed... I removed the weight bolt and it kept doing it... I check te uniloc pin and it doesn't move at all.

I tried a sound test hiting the cue butt in different parts with my fingernail and something inside sounds loose somewhere around the middle. I checked the hole where the weight bolt goes and it doesn't appear to have anything stucked in it.

It doesn't affect playability but it's kind of annoying and I'm worried it might eventually get worse.

Any help is welcome.

Personally I would contact lucasi and most likely send it in for them to look at it....companies usually have pretty good warranties and they should be able to get it fixed for you.....
 
alot of cue makers put set screws under the weight bolt for balance. There will usually be two of them,one used as a jam to keep them from moving and these will sometimes work themselves loose. To check if that is your problem you will need a long T-handle Allen wrench, remove the bumper and weight bolt then you should be able to get to them to tighten
 
might be a note from the Chinese guy who made the cue, saying "please help me escape this sweat shop" .......j/k :)

Without seeing or holding the cue, my diagnosis would be the A-joint.

Send it back to Lucasi,

Sorry, Claudio, I thought for sure someone else would pitch in the answer. So unless your cue is a full-splice butt, and I don't think Lucasi makes one, though I don't know every Lucasi by sight, you will see that the handle and the forearm are different wood, or perhaps your Lucasi has a wrap. In any case the point where the handle and the forearm join together is called the A-joint. Often the cuemaker will use a metal pin to screw those two parts together for a nice tight glue bond. (They might also use a G10 pin if weight is a consideration) If there wasn't enough glue used or a few other situations, that pin can work loose over time and cause a rattle.
It's often hard to pinpoint the location of a rattle in a cue because they transmit sound and vibrations so well - after all, cues are generally made out of what are called "tone" woods, the same woods that instrument makers use.
If this is the case, the fix can be easy or hard, depending on the cue. Again, you are best advised to send it to Lucasi for analysis and repair.

Thank you... I don't think I can send it back to lucasi because I'm actually living outside the US. I'm gonna have to figure out how to fix it myself.
 
Updating this thread I would like to tell you all that I finally fixed it...

Turns out that it was not the A joint, but it was a piece of weight bolt that was not screwed all the way down...

I had checked the upper weight bolt, but I never imagined it would have anothe little bolt inside...

So I just took it out et voila!!! Problem fixed... No more sounds in the cue...
