I had the pleasure this weekend of spending 2 days at Lucky Dawg Billiards (formerly Murphy's Brass Rail) in Athens, to hold a Pool School. I must say I was impressed with the room and the new owner. Jenny has got a great staff that works hard to keep the room clean, and the customers happy. The cloth on the tables was in very good condition, the balls and tables were clean, and the food was good. The new owner was also one of the students in the class. Her reasoning was that if she was going to own a pool room, she wanted to learn as much as possible about the game. (She is a Vet by trade, and also owns the animal hospital next door). The things she learned this weekend will make her a better player, but will also give her a perspective of what things are important to a player coming into her room.

If you find yourself in Athens, I highly recommend stopping in for a couple of games.

She's a vet? An odd coincidence, seeing as she renamed the room somewhat in honor of an animal that just died... :/

Just found out about this tonight at team trivia, where many teams will come up with team names having to do with that week's news. One team's name was "All good UGA mascots go to heaven".

(And yes, I know the room's been named Lucky Dawg for some time.)
