mach 2 cnc software question

Hello all. Does anyone use the mach2 mill or lathe software to run their cnc? I was told you can change the x, y, z cordinates on the fly but I cannot get the machine to lock the number in. It goes back to what it was when i run a program. Please post it here or pm me with a phone number and I will call you. Thanks Chris.

Not sure if this is what you're talking about but suspect that it is. If you have downloaded and printed a Mach2 manual, go to 10.7.23.

My manual is at the shop, and I am at home so I have not been able to look up what Bandido is referencing, but I think I know what is happening to you.

Your axis must be referenced to home in order to make adjustments. When you make adjustments, you are actually changing the offset. If the main screen is showing the machine coordinates instead of the offset coordinates, you cannot change them. Also, you must hit the enter key after you change a setting for it to be stored.

If you go to machsupport.com and click on the support button there is a selection called video tutorials. Watch the video for coordinates and homing. I think it will answer your questions.

You're welcome Chris. You need to download and print-out your own manual as a hardcopy isn't sent out by Artsoft. This helps them pass on the saving to the customer. Here's the download link. http://www.artofcnc.ca/Mach2.6.11.pdf

Your are certainly welcome to whatever help I can give. I agree with Bandido, that I would download and print my own copy. I have one in a binder with each page in it's own plastic page protector. This has proven very useful. I currently have 3 machines running Mach and will soon have 5 or 6. Having the manual as a reference is extremely useful.

Did you buy a machine with Mach already on it? If so what machine? Are you just doing turning, or inlays as well?

I would still recommend watching as many of the videos from the website as you can. They are very informative and can make sure the your machine is set up how you want it. I have one machine that I bought from Bludworth. It is a pretty good machine, but I did change many of the setups to suit my needs.
