Madden cues

Just looking to get some input from people that play with his cues. Been looking around for a custom and I'm liking his designs and the fiddleback shafts he uses but how do they play? Thanks in advance.

I play with a Ebony into Coco 4-point w/a single Holly recut, 3/8-10 pin, Ivory joint, leather wrap, Coco butt w/ivory butt cap. It has 2 Fiddle back shafts and is one of the sweetest playing cues I've ever used. It just feels smooth on the hit and is flat out GORGEOUS. Then again, you might hate it. Brian.

I know it's probably a stupid question as 'feel' is subjective... just wondering where someone that has played with a Madden along with other customs would rate the Madden?

Jack Madden Cues (You're On The Right Track!)

I've recently corresponded privately with one AZ'er who has owns and has owned a number of Southwest, Olney, Capone, Barnhart, and Schon (Runde-era) cues, and this person told me that John (Jack) Madden told him he could make him a cue that would play as good or better than his favorite Southwest. And, according to this happy AZ'er, Mr. Madden succeeded.

I've heard that Madden is a true craftsman, and like Paul Dayton, much thought, time, and consideration is placed on the selection, aging, and tapering of the shaft.

The shaft says it all in a cue. The most important component, along with the ferrule and tip.

I'm looking forward to one day owning a Madden, Dayton, or perhaps both.

First I'll need to sell some other cues and get a little fund together.

Good luck with your possible selection of a Madden cue. I hope the information I've provided helps.

If you want, I'll PM the user name of the informative AZ'er that I corresponded with. He seems like a really nice fellow, and one, given his collection of cues, would be a reliable source of information, and a valued opinion concerning this subject.

Thanks to those that chimed in, your input was helpful! I'm putting Madden on my shortlist of makers I'm considering for my first custom, though my pitiful attempt at playing 10-ball on a 9 footer tonight has slightly discouraged me from dropping the cash on a nice custom, I'm feeling like a Madden might be a waste in my hands as it stands right now...

Jacks cues are top notch.. his customer service is by far some of the best in the buisness... i have owned 4 Jack Madden cues, and i know about 10 people local to me that have them.. everybody loves them! they play great.. look awesome.. you cant go wrong with a Jack Madden cue!

Jack is kind off a sleeper cue maker, he at one time was a top player, so he understand what a cue should do to work.

I've got a Jack Madden TM 1024 on his website and a buddy of mine has an ebony and holly one (earlier vintage, not on his website)... they play differently, yet both play well...

I've seen that Jack makes a bunch of different styles. Stainless steel joint, 1/2 joints, renaissance or very similar joints... my sense is if you commission one, or find one that is built the way you want it, fit and finish are very good, playability is excellent as well.

He definitely was on my short list for awhile and it'll take something special to kick it out of my case...

Madden Cues

Hello, I have one made in 2009 - like the JM1001 on page 9 of his gallery.
If you're interested, PM me and I can email you specs, pics,
& price.
If you decide to go for a new one, Jack is a great guy to deal with.

I had Jack build me a complete set a year or so ago. Had 2 fiddleback shafts for my shooter. They do p lay extremely well. Jack is a great guy. I now shoot with a pierce. I would say that if you wanted to get a madden jump on it.
his finish work is great and I agree very under rated but I think he likes it that way.
He likes quiet he does live in Montana with the ready of us who didn't know any better.
 hope this helps in your decision

I own a Madden and it plays really good.
