Madison Bob Sneaky Pete

Hello all,

I'm offering one of the finest hitting sneaky pete cues on the planet! Eat your Purple Heart out! This cue had some nicks and dings professionally repaired with nitrocellouse lacquer. They can be seen, but not felt. The shaft is silky smooth, as well. Overall, cosmetically, the cue is a solid 7-of-10. While a purist might want a refinish, I wouldn't want to risk losing the "MB" initials on the base of the butt, as signed by Bob Griffin. I believe this is from the earlier-to-mid part of Bob Griffin's output of cues, as it pre-dates the signing with "Griffin," and also features ring work similar to SouthWest cues. This is the ultimate bar room shooter, with a stiffer hit than my Scruggs sneaky, and more lively feedback. I have a friend who recently purchased a Diviney ebony sneaky with Lakewood shaft, and it offered a similar hit, though I'd probably give the nod to this MB. That's how good it is! Here are the specs:

BUTT WEIGHT= 15.80 oz.
SHAFT WEIGHT= 3.75 oz.
TOTAL WEIGHT= 19.50 oz.
SHAFT DIAMETER= 12.20 mm.

The Best Hitting Madison Bob Cue For Sale in The Country!

Bump for a great American-made, Purple Heart Sneaky Pete, that actually outperforms my revered Scruggs Sneaky Pete, and that cue is stellar to everyone who has played it. Thanks to $take Horse for information on Madison Bob cues, and for confirming the fact that the earlier cues, such as this, with the initials "MB," either between the points or at the base of the butt, such as this cue, offered the finest hit of all the Griffin cues. Do your research, as there are threads here on AZB where the sneaky petes are described as the "ultimate performance sneaky pete, AT ANY COST!

If this cue were in mint cosmetic condition, I'd be asking $450.00. I know one AZB member who has a near mint sneaky pete with "MB" initials between the points, and if he were to sell it, he's asking $450.00. The cue is, however, in MINT playing condition! And the only Madison Bob cue for sale on the internet is selling for $900.00, by Tampa Billiards.

$xxx is stupid cheap, for a cue of this quality, and scarcity, and including shipping and Paypal fees. How often do you see one come up for sale, and does it have Southwest-style ring work like this one?

I'll give it a few more days. If nobody's smart enough to snatch up this American Classic, then it will go back in the case.

Legendary Performance Cue; Better Than My Early 80's Scruggs!

The above quote should say it all. My Scruggs sneaky pete hits like a wet noodle, in comparison to this Madison Bob. And with Scruggs sneaky petes selling between $450.00 to $750.00, I proudly remain firm on the price of this American classic. There is nothing on AZ right now, for $xxx shipped, that can compete with this cue's playability and firm hit!

I am a proud owner of a "Master Assault Device" as Bob told in his workshop on what the "MAD" really means lol. He was always such a character...

You are absolutely correct about the hit of a Mad Bob cue. I have had mine for over 12 years now and have yet to find a cue that has the balance and hit that a Mad Bob gives. I'd give Bob $1000 for him to make just one more sneaky for me.

Hello,

Thanks for pointing out how Madison Bob cues play, compared to scores of other cues. Considering the fact that Bob doesn't make them anymore, and that there are virtually none for sale on the used market, I thought that this early sneaky pete of his would have sold here. But since it hasn't, I've put it up on the bay. Maybe someone there will be wise enough to snag it, before I sell something else, and hold on to the MB. Someone should be able to get a good deal here:

I used to shoot with one for years also before I started building cues! They are great hitting cues someone should latch on to this cue. One of the best hitting cues I ever shot with was the sneaky of his I had. I can't believe it hasn't sold no matter the condition....

$old!

what is the price on this cue?

Hello,

I'm sorry, but when I awoke today, I saw that the cue had sold, with the buyer using "Buy It Now." A smart decision, as nine people were watching the item.

I was going to PM a reply to you, but didn't get the chance. This cue will ship out tomorrow. Thanks for your interest.

Regards,
