hi all!

i just would like to get your opinion guys to those who may have shot or played with for sometime with Madison Bob's sneaky pete break cue? it sells for $300 at his site and it ahs a white ferrule with no tip. i am curious though coz its not a jump/break cue at all but he mentioned there in the cue description that it jumps easily. do you guys think this is a good deal? it has a burnt finish and i dont have a clue what does that mean? thanks!--diablo

im assuming that by a burnt finish bob means that the wood is actually burnt with a torch and that will darken the grain. either way. bob is a great person to deal with, a week ago i spent an hour on the phone with him, and he is a wealth of knowledge and puts alot in his cue. hope this helps. he also bailed me out of a problem i had with a shaft. he ended up building me a brand new one at a cost to low to mention, just to bail me out, and he didnt know me from adam. joey

I have a j/b Madison Bob. IMO it's breaks about the same as the Sledgehammer or maybe a little better, but it's jump is awesome. It's jumps better broken down to it's jump configuration, but it still jumps very well in it's full length and I don't have to break it down often. The material of the ferrule/tip isn't phenolic, he'd have to explain what it is. Also bear in mind when I say this that I'm not very good at jumping normally. You might want to email or call him and asking what it would cost extra for a jump/break.
What a burnt finish means is that he doesn't finish it at all with lacquer or even super glue type finish. I assume by "burnt" he means he burnishes it at a high speed on his lathe which results in the wood being sealed. I'm guessing on that, all I can say for sure is it has no layer of finish, it is very smooth (almost slippery at first), and it seems as if the wood is sealed just fine. I'm sure if you want one with a finish he'll do that too. Maybe a cue maker (or Bob himself) can chime in with a better explanation.
I also have a Madison Bob playing cue, no points, nothing fancy but nice wood (normal finish of course). It plays very well especially if you like a forward balanced cue.
