Magic rack vs speed rack?
What do you prefer? Cons and pros?

My opinion
Magic rack
Cons: slow to rack up.
Pros: better break

speed rack
Cons: fast to rack
Pros: less good break

I don't see any speed difference in getting a rack finished with the magic rack vs any other rack. It may be a couple of seconds faster to shove the balls into a normal rack, but by the time you are done aligning the rack to the spot, moving it around to get a good rack, fiddling with the balls to get them tight, it takes 3 times longer than a template rack. I think anyone would choose quality over speed, especially when the difference is seconds not hours.

I've never tried the speed rack but I'll take most anything over a Magic Rack. The balls just slide off the plastic in the same place every time. I don't like watching players run out the same exact rack each and every game.

There used to be a member here who sold a template rack that was made with paper or something that had texture. Perhaps it was some sort of cellulose. Anyway, he sent me one to try and I really liked it. The texture makes the balls roll away not slide away, so it gives you similar patterns to an actual rack.

The one I have got damaged and faded too much so I cannot even read the brand now.

Probably AccuRack from Outsville. I have several and it does form a more natural break.

If you don't do pattern racking and don't soft break, the magic rack is also pretty good with the spread. Outside of the fact that the corner ball is pretty much wired to go in as long as you hit it at a medium speed. The biggest issue with the Magic Rack is when people do rack the same every game and use a softer break. That creates the same pattern and can line up an early combo on the 9 often since there will be a ball near it every time.

That's it! Outsville.
I need a couple more...

Yeah, the magic plus pattern racking ruins the game.
Watch the Orcullo/Shaw match where Dennis puts a 6 pack on Jayson. It's the same rack, 6 times.

I have a Delta 13, I can rack a tight rack with that way faster than a template. I also have the Outsville template, When I use my Outsville template I put the template where I want it, throw the balls in my Delta, lift up slightly on the rack and roll the balls into position over the template while my Delta 13 is around the balls. It works great!!!! No more knocking front balls off of the template because I bumped the rack putting a rear ball in.
