Main Street Billiards - Mesa Az

I have been going to Main Street Billiards for years. The tables are better than ever, all the guys that work there are knowledgeable and friendly, yet when I go in I just don't see the crowds I used to.

I know the economy is not what it used to be, but where are all of the regulars from back in the day? Where is everyone playing? Is pool in general just not what it used to be? You used to be able to go into main street and find some cheap action, and with a few calls possibly bigger action.

I like Main Street, and I am also a fan of other pool halls in town, but just curious to see if anyone would be able to give feedback to why they stopped going there? PM if you would prefer, just curious to see where everyone went.

I think most people are at Kolby's like tonight there is a 9 ball tournament they have weekly, 20-30 players, $12 entry. You can get action there in almost any game your heart desires from cheap to not so cheap. I will be there at 7pm to play some, stop by.

Here is my opinion....all of the action is pretty much at Kolby's....Really any other room in the vally is hit or miss as far as action goes....

Currently Kolby's is the only place that has a "house pro" (that I know of)....(Freezer)....I think that is part of the action draw.

Back in the day...Roger Griffis was the house pro at Main Street....drew action there......Danny Diliberto was house pro at Golden 8-ball....drew action there....Kolby's had people like Loui Robets, Steve Knight, and I think a couple other "names" that drew action to the room....

Also back in the day....people would come by and hang out looking for action......Now there are cell phones and internet.....so you really don't need to leave your living room to find action....seems like most action is already lined up before either player steps into the room.
