Make your own facings?

Ok so I'm new to working on tables, but I'm a methodological sort who strives for quality in all things. Anyways I wanted to get neoprene 3/16 facings with a 60 durometer. But I couldn't really find anything locally, and being as I'm in Canada, ordering from the states can be expensive. So I found a company that sells rubber and I ordered a strip of 3/16 neoprene with 60 durometer with the intent if making my own facings. Have others done this as well? Is there any reason to think this may be a bad idea? Thanks!

Sounds doable to me. Give it a shot. What do you have to lose if you are doing all the work yourself?

Yes, I do this. It works fine. Make sure you lightly rough up the side you are gluing if you want them to stay.

Yes. Just ruff cut them oversized and then fit each one. It takes time, but it's worth it.

Oh, if you cut one that doesn't work, pull it and throw it away.

This is how I do it. A 2"x36" strip is enough for one table. I generally by 3'x4' sheets and cut them into 2" strips.
