making a fullsplice?

I've got 2 beautiful pieces of wood. 1 is olive wood an the the other is Honduras rosewood Burl. I've been saving the 2 for awhile now trying to decide what I wanted to do with 2. I've decided I really want a full splice made out of them. The olivewood I want for the the forearm an butt sleeve an Burl for the points an handle. I know with the olivewood it has to be cored I'm not real sure about the Burl. Is it possible to use these 2 for a full splice an if so who do y'all recommend I commission to build it. I would really love to have a blank made out of the 2 an hold on to it for a while longer an make up my mind who would be the best choice in the build. But like I said I would love to know everyone else's input.

I would suggest getting on the websites of blank suppliers and reviewing the look of their methods. Find one that you like and contact them. I would think any supplier would make your blank. But I don't think any supplier will vary their setup if you wanted say sharp points at the joints or a more narrow flat. JMO

This is tricky as its unlikely anyone will want the liability of possibly ruining your wood.

The minimum length of each piece of wood required to make a true full splice blank/cue is 24"...if they are not that long, they are not going to be suitable. Best to save them for perhaps a wrapless short splice instead.

Contact Jeff Prather at Prather Cues.
He’ll want 18” for the forearm and 24” for the butt.

Jeff would be a very good choice. Schmelke is another good option. And there are several more who do an excelent job with full splice butts. Check them all out!!

You are talking about two pieces of wood that both need to be cored and then full spliced. I am not sure anyone is going to want to take that on. I might would build the cue if it was my wood. But with it being your wood I think I would pass on it unless I was building the complete cue. And then I would want the understanding that if the wood turns into scrap I owe you nothing and you owe me nothing.
Your safest and in my opinion the strongest way to go with that wood would be half splice, or rob some slabs off the handle piece and make flat bottom points.
