here is the thing, why would kevin, send a letter saying the checks will be going out within a week, if it weren't so?

if i was in kevin's shoes, and it turned out there is no money, i would come out now sooner rather than later and say "dear ipt players, i'm afraid there is no money. i'm sorry, i tried and i failed, please accept my apology, i wish you luck in the furture,kevin.

but no, this is not the case, he keeps saying it's gonna happen, and what may i ask you the pool forum does he have to gain, by stringing us along at this time? my answer is this ~~~~~~NOTHING! kevin has nothing to gain, and all the enemys to make by lieing now,so therefore, i think he is actually on the level. i think this guy is gonna pay us and chicago will happen.

the only reason why i say this is this~~he is in a safe place now where no one can hit him over the head with a 58 inch pool cue, for instance in reno if he said at the players meeting "by the way, i'm broke, and no one here will be paid" everyone could have, might have charged, forward towards the stage, and whacked him over his head knocking him out,so he didn't say that,then, but why wouldn't he say that now??? that is the question, why is he STILL SAYING your gonna get paid? you've got to think, hey, if the guy had no money, he would come out this instant and say, i got money, goodybe, so i think he is gonna come through.
now, let the responses FLY! give me a good reason why he would string us along, there is NONE! my only guess, is he is gonna pay us.

IMO the players chances of getting paid for RENO are BETTER than before the notification on the 20th indicating paperwork finalizing funding would be signed on the 23rd.

Let's hope we get affirmation and nothing to the contrary tomorrow.

I would welcome the "X IPT EX's" opinion on whether he thinks the checks will be issued and mailed in 7 to 10 days (or sooner) after the 23rd.

Well, Bernie... Im still pissed that you're not going to be on The Letterman Show like KT said all the players would - BUT - I have an idea for after your career with the IPT is history... I say you start practicing tying your shoes with your teeth while juggling flaming bowling balls... BLINDFOLDED!!! Then you're a shoe in for Stupid Human Tricks!!! Think about it, Bernie... Who needs the IPT? C'mon man. I am not taking a position on whether the IPT will or won't pay because I have no idea one way or the other. But reason to string along? Of course there is a reason and it was stated by Deno in an e-mail posted to this forum....to STALL FOR TIME.

And I am not even being critical of the stalling tactic. In aviation we have a saying..."Don't quit flying until you are out of altitude and ideas at the same time."

The same is true in business...football...and life in general. As long as you are still alive, there is hope that SOMETHING will happen to save the day.

I am on record as not conding lying about why the money was not paid out but that is an entirely different issue. But stalling or stringing along as you put it not only has a reason...it is a VALID reason for ALL CONCERNED.

I think that no one who is owed money would vote in favor of the IPT just up and quitting if there was any hope left of getting bailed out.

I agree with some of what you said but it does appear that KT has put in a imited amount of cash into the IPT, even if its way short of what he promised and guaranteed. What would you do if that was your money? If he just gives up its gone for sure, 100% right off. I don't think many people would do that, he's in a corner strapped for cash and he's trying every trick in the book to keep this thing alive.

Imagine if you will he's running around times square wearing a sandwich board which says "The greatest show on earth FOR SALE!" and there's a growing mob with pool cues forming across the street. Will $150m question is will he hook a buyer before the mob take action, I hope so! :confused:

I also hope you guys all get paid. But, he could still be stalling to pump up the qualifiers and receive the qualifier money. Think about it.....some people have suggested that everyone sould pay with a credit card to protect themselves from KT. What would actually happen is that the players would be paying the room owner(s) and the room owners would then send the money to the IPT. If Chicago doesn't happen, the only recourse the players would have is still with their local pool room owner, who is acting in good faith as the middle man for the IPT. KT still wins! Hopefully, this won't happen, but it could.

the responses in my opinion haven't been valid or clear, no one has answered, "this is why he is writing these letters of hope to you." there is not one reason, the only valid reason is one of two things: kevin is crazy, and is in a rubber room with crayons in a straight jacket using the internet to the outside world,writing these grandour letters of hope and greatness,and typing to deno in the process, meanwhile deno, still thinking his boss kevin is rich somehow, is playing the game acting normal saying, "wow, kevin, that's a great letter" "yes, deno go post it to all ipt players, they need to know" deno complies and say's yes sir, right away sir. meanwhile kevin is drawing a tilted pool table on the wall with a far away look in his eyes, repeating to himself bearly auidible, i was trying to be nice, i was trying to be good, but all i could do, is draw here, in this little nook,(calling from the hallway) "kevin, medicine time" he answers, "i'll be right there, first i have to save the pool world"

ok, so that's the first scenerio, kevin is a loon, and wants to keep this "wow, isn't the IPT great???!!!!???!!!!!! thing going forever, even surpassing, copperfield and houdini for best illusion,or~~~~~~~~
kevin is perfectly sane, and is trying to make a deal with Ho, and it's gonna get signed, everyone will be paid, and the IPT goes on,with me on letterman.

so, there you have it, two different scenarios, one has got to be correct,there are no other choices, as far as i can see.

Bernie, KT didn't say he would pay in 7-10 days. He said he would pay when the deal is finalized. That would be around the end of this week maybe if the deal closes. He's a hard guy to figure out. If there is a statement today, it will be ineresting to see what it says. Why are pool players so willling to hitch their wagon to a guy like Trudeau? I will bet you that if he pays, everyone will show up for Chicago like nothiing happened.

Wow, I have been away for a while and not keeping up but it looks like nothing has happened yet, KT is still stalling. After catching up on everything I am going to give you, as Larry King would say, my take of it. I think the IPT is quietly shutting down regardless what KT says and will make some final announcements to that effect some time soon. As I said many months ago when everybody was talking about how rich KT was, from all I could tell the guy has no money, it would seem to appear I was right.

I was not making a guess, you could use a connect the dots method and everything pointed to that. The beginning of the IPT was being funded by his Natural cures company and at the time they were churning a lot of cash even if maybe not making a lot of profits. It was easy to divert money to the IPT to make payments to the players and so on, a little rob Peter to pay Paul but no big deal it is done all the time. Then the money stopped and the book fell to below the top 200 on the sellers lists and dissapeared all together along with the advertising, they pretty much vanished from TV. The Natural cures company was now not making even enough money to fund it's self and it's advertising, over three million a month at one point, much less the IPT. Unless the IPT could begin to make profits REAL quick, it was basically over way back then, even before the Reno tournament.

(I am sorry for repeating what I have written in the past but I have to for what I am saying make sense.) Since KT actually doesn't have any real money to fund the IPT, instead of just ceasing operations like anyone else would, he begins to resort to lies to buy himself time to get the money to pay off the Reno deal. That tournament by the way should never have taken place if they had no money, what could they have been thinking? Yes, I think he really wants to pay the players but can't. He is also caught in the embarrassing position of being exposed as a fraud as to his wealth.

What do I think about the Mr. Ho deal? It doesn't exist and never has.
It has never been mentioned by anyone but KT himself and at this point with all the speculation, worry by the players, talk of law suits and such it would be very important for the Mr. Ho camp to issue a statement of some kind and they haven't, this makes it look like there is no such deal and never was, plain and simple. So what about the future? Here is what I see, Like I said they probably are already in the process of getting this thing shut down and some time soon will issue a statement from KT that will read something like this. They are sorry but the deal with Mr. Ho did not go through and they are going to put all future plans on hold for the IPT. The IPT will be making arrangements to pay the players who currently have outstanding monies due but they will have to wait till such arrangements can be made.

Beyond that point the IPT will no longer exist and whether the players get paid or not who knows, possibly some partial payments. This is how I see it, I can't really see any other scenario that makes any sense. They have no money, no product and no market, what the heck is the IPT anyway other then a charity that is now no longer funded. I think as things play out you will see I am very much on the money as to what will happen. I am not being a naysayer, all you have to do is look at it and how in the world could they possibly continue? I am being honest when I say, I would not buy any of those I.O.U.'s from the IPT for 30 cents on the dollar and if I held one and was offered 30 cents on the dollar would take it and run.

Look, I think in the beginning KT actually thought he could fund the IPT through the Natural Cures money and maybe even get it to some kind a self paying status but things changed and the charity is over.

That is just how he does things, I would not read any extra meaning into it. He will make announcements of various kinds and then it will all just come to an end and that will be that.

Remember this is a guy who sat on TV with John Stossel and quoted from a university study. When Mr. Stossel said that the university in question said no such study was ever done, he just sat there like being caught in a lie meant nothing to him, he just told another lie. He said that he had a copy of the study at his office and would send it to Stossel tomorrow.

Of course he never did. You and I can't possibly begin to imagine how he thinks or why he does what he does. He is a strange dude to say the least, probably a little nuts as well.

You should reread, he said checks would go out 7-10 days after papers
were signed TODAY (Monday, 23rd) for the funding. The deal for the acquisition is suppose to be concluded by Friday, which is reasonable to me considering that there probably has to be further discussion and decisions made regarding the law that just passed prohibiting gambling on the internet in the USA. (Like figuring a way around it ... lol)

Also, posted today, European players received payments for the Vegas tournament (transfers and checks) that Deno told them last week would be sent. If KT was trying to make a get-a-way, doubt they would have sent the Vegas payments to the European players, huh?

Snapshot..... the internet gambling laws cannot in the wildest imagination possibly have any more relevance to a company that is in negotiations to buy a pool tour than it would have to the same company in negotiations to buy,say, a supermarket and "figuring a way round those laws" is irrelevant to the nature of an entity such as IPT. I am not saying they are not in negotiations but this slant on them is a herring of the reddest hue.

Actually, I believe the email says that the checks would be issued in 7-10 days. It does not say when the checks would be mailed. I am not trying to nitpick the email or your above statement but that is what it says. Issued does not mean mailed. It would have been a lot clearer to say that the checks would be mailed on or by Novemer 3rd 2006 (10 days from today) but that was not the case.

It may have simply been the wrong choice or wording (issued versus mailed) which is an honest mistake or the word issued may have been chosen for a specific reason. I do not know which is the case. Just stating the facts as I see them

Just a slight correction. The new law has not made on-line gambling illegal. It has ALWAYS been illegal. The law prohibits credit card companies from tendering payment to on-line gambling companies.

I would imagine that a few people are applying for credit cards from...say...the Royal Bank of Canada. (-:

But I have a different take on that whole matter. The story is that the Ho deal stalled after the law was passed....which means that it was a "go" (or nearly so before the law). But that makes no sense. If the law was NOT going to be passed, Mr. Ho didn't need Trudeau or the IPT or anyone else...he could have started his own tournament right there in China (Macau).

I understand exactly where you are coming from but "to issue" means to distribute. If he had said that the checks will be "cut" or "prepared" etc. then no suggestion of distribution would exist.

But "issue" means....

"to appear or become available through being officially put forth or distributed"

Mail, is only one means of distribution. There is also Fed Ex...but they are SO unreliable...they lose $3 million worth of checks all the time! (-:

Plus, I don't think the powers that be would feel the need to be quite so clever. The IPT clearly already owes the money so promising to mail the checks wouldn't make matters any worse for them.

What is happening is just what Deno said was happening...i.e. that the IPT is stalling for time. The only question is why? With all due respect to Bernie's different take in another thread there can be only two reasons to stall.
1. They actually are negotiating for SOME kind of funding (with or without Ho) or
2. They are preparing to shut the business down.

I hope that #1 is true.
