Where do Ya'll get your Makita 1 1/8th model belt sander belts from and what grit? The belts from the last batch I got seperated in lest than a minute of light use. They were new, but a few years old. Maybe that contributed to the premature failure, BUT just to be on the safe side, I am asking where people get them from that they've had good luck with. Thanks again.

Grainger sells them, and they have an arrow on the inside of the belts to show the direction of rotation so they don't come apart when being used.

I've bought abrasives of all kinds from this company off & on for some 35 years & was shopping them today for widebelts (for a "timesaver").
Assuming you will buy a range of belts, not just one at a time?
As can be seen, they have all the common type of abrasives in most size belts.
FWIW, my RAMCO/Tannewitz widebelt sander takes 25" x 72" belts which are a complete oddball - most sanders either take short 60" belts, or longer 75". My price for custom length belts in the past has always been smack dab between those listed catalog prices. so they are (or were) not gouging on custom lengths.

I might or might not make this current order with them; for my app, there are some interesting other options online, but I have never been dissatisfied with Red Hill Supergrit, other than the time i placed a rush order on Friday with CC#, and around the following Tuesday or Wednesday they called me and asked if i wanted to go ahead and place the order?.

1 1/8" × 21" belts are all over the internet for sale in various grits, all one has to do is look!

Seems that some of the presumed "higher end" belts (not to mention Klingspor or maybe 3M in the past) used adhesives that had a shelf life.
IOW, buy 5 years supply based on quantity savings, and somewhere down the line or maybe at 6 yrs, they would all be coming unglued. From the mom 'n pop jobbers (used to be an even better one than Supergrit in Las Vegas or near there) i never had a failure and was using my last new 80 grit belt yesterday, probably sourced 15 years ago.
