ok so i just have to say wow. i cant believe no one on here has heard of him. i got to actually go to his house and see his shop and play with several of his cues new and old. he wouldnt allow me to take any pics of his shop, something about trade secrets lol but he let me get several of his work.
the quality of his work is amazing! two of his newer cues utilize a concept called re-cuts. one is an 8-point cue with double re-cut every point. the second is a 4-point cue with triple re-cut points. you can see both of these in the pics. from talking to him he says:"i dont use veneers". he does an outstanding leather wrap as well. i took a pic with his seam lines up and i challenge you to find it.
the hit of his cues are amazing as well. he let me hit with one of his older cues first and then told me that his new ones hit even better. my initial reaction,which was equal to johnny ferber's, "how can it hit better?" to say the least he was correct. it hit way better. i currently shoot with a pre-ebay Dale Perry, which hits pretty well, and i can shoot a draw shot with it and do a full table draw. with the manning cue i can do the same shot with the same stroke and get almost 2 full tables out of it. im not sure how he does it and he isnt goin to tell me either but who cares! they hit and look amazing!
price: his prices arent bad either. a plane jane from him with no wrap is around $500. IMHO his hit alone is worth that $500.
re-cap: manning cues are an outstanding product with an exquisite beauty to boot. not to mention a priceless hit. im sold and if anyone ever offers to let you hit with one, do not let the chance pass you over. but be warned: they are as addictive as crack(i dont know personally about crack lol). just point & click.
