Here is a cue I just finished before Christmas. The butt is 25" long, has 6-pie Purpleheart core. The front and rear are Curly Purpleheart while the middle is resin impregnated Redwood Burl. The Native theme is represented by the traditional colors of the Crow tribe. These include purple, pumpkin, brown, white, blue and pink. The buttcap and joint collar are of bison horn. Ring work is colored veneers of pink, blue and pumpkin with holly. The reddish color in the rings is pipestone, ground to a powder and mixed with epoxy, put into custom molds and turned into rings. Butt weighs 14.4oz, is .840 at the joint and 1.200 at the butt end. Thanks, Lonn, as I really enjoyed this project.

Looks great. Interesting length. How long did you make the shaft?

Thanks. The shaft is standard 29". Lonn states that the shorter butt makes him choke up more and greatly helps his follow through. Shaft is SS360/2 at 12.50mm.

That makes sense. I like the old Willie Hoppe cues which are very short, choking up has changed how I hold regular cues for the betterment of my game.

That's pretty cool. I have a DVD with Pat Fleming and Grady Mathews playing straight pool and Pat told Grady his stick was 53". Pat played pretty sporty with that cue.
