Mark Bear question

I have a full splice Mark Bear cue that I’d like to get refinished at some point. Its full splice and the veneers aren’t the same thickness, especially in the “V” area.

I’m assuming that something was “off” during construction, but can someone explain what they think happened?

I’m just curious, it is a heavy cue that has a nice solid hit and plays great.

They were most likely sanded to get the right angle to fit together in a sharp point on the handle end of the points. Bit during gluing they appear not to have all been shoved back until the sharp ends all touched. In other words the thin looking pieces were left too far forward. The other possibility is one side was sanded wrong.

Thanks for the information Chris, I didn’t think of sanding prior to assembly.
