Market Predictions

Also works well in biz when you show up with the correct watch on. However that’s fading into a thing of the past as well. It’s not as important as it was.
100%. Especially when dealing with another watch nerd. Sea Dweller is a great choice. Real tool watch. Tough as nails. I'm more of an Omega guy or like the odd stuff.

Omega are better built watches than Rolex. They are great! The SD is what I’ve been wearing since 2000. I’ve had 3 over the years. The newest version is likely the last SD I’ll buy. I still wear my older ones now and then. Not too fancy and works with anything. Watches are fun!

Unless it’s a Stainless Daytona. Those are bullet proof if purchased at retail(good luck).

But yes paying full pop for 98% of the watches out there is a bad idea and you’ll take a huge hit.

I flipped watches for about 5-6 years. Was great fun and paid for a pile of cues.

I haven’t bought a watch in 4 years. And that was the first watch I bought in 7-8 years at that time. Was a new model of an old watch I wear daily. A Sea Dweller. I paid €11,400 for it (retail) I haven’t looked as I’m not selling but it’s trading over retail.

I never wear the fancy stuff anymore
Yup. Just shelled $3 the other day at a thrift shop for a really nice Timex Indiglo to replace my old beach watch. Uses 2016s that cost $5 for strip of 5 Sonys at the big rainforest website. Push the button and you can read it at night. Keeps pretty good time too.

Now back to our regularly scheduled discussion where we all take sides about how you can play just as well with cheap equipment, and how Mike Sigel could run the table on most of us by gluing a 49 cent tip on a broomstick, hence we are wasting our time supporting the industry and buying something nice.

Hookers and blow markets are fairly stable. Heard that from a friend. ;)

OMG, I just heard a drunk couple have an argument because apparently the woman offered someone a BJ for a line of coke LOL Some league nights in some bars are just amusing on their own never mind the actual pool playing.

A buddy used to be doorman/security at a big local strip joint. Lets just say i've played some 'interesting' pool with 'interesting' wagers on the line with the 'staff'. ;)

Prices may be staying up at the high end (commercial/pro equipment), but I see a lot of competition at the low end.

But what do you mean by "price controlled"? Are Diamond, Brunswick and Olhausen getting together and setting prices?
Diamond controls all its dealers with MAP (Minimum Advertised Pricing)

Diamond currently sells a tournament used 9 footer for over 8k with a light.

I'd say they control their price exceptionally.

Same as predator, McDermott and all the rest.
If you sell under MAP, you won't be a dealer long.

Everything we buy is price controlled. To the point the consumer has little influence. When everybody who makes bread says it's going to 5 bucks...you pay it or you starve.
