Married Members-This thread is for you

I met my wife at the grand opening of a pool room. She likes to go to tourneys and watch matches with me, and she play real well. Just last weekend she yelled at me to quit working on the house so much and go out to hit some balls for a few hours....which I did. :D She also loves to work the counter during tourneys and talk smack with all the players.

YES, I know how lucky I am.......sorry guys, She's mine:p

I've been married over 8 years, and trying to play pool "seriously" again after a long hiatus for about half that time.

The whole business is a work in progress. My wife has no interest in the game, though she did drop in on a 14.1 tourney briefly with me a few months ago and showed some appreciation of the pros' skills. This gave me a little hope. But getting out the door for the occasional tourney, no matter what sort of deal has been struck, is never entirely easy.

It'll be 42 years for my wife and I this November. She doesn't mind me going out to play pool, except for the second hand smoke and the various nut jobs I run into when I play in bar tournaments. Of course, if I lived somewhere where there was more action and more reasons to visit the poolroom, she might start accusing me of neglect, but I don't see that happening.

does anyone feel like...who wants their wife around while they are hanging with the guys.

I always heard that pool was a bachelor's endeavor. I've seen many guys playing pool regularly when they are going through hard times with their wife or are single, but disappear entirely once they hook up again.

you would think so, hell I used to think so!, then I met my wife, and theres nothing like chattin about spots, how to match up, why I should be buying a new cue, and what it feels like to bank a ball to your pocket, go 3 rails, and drop in behind a ball for your pocket, and she knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

I guess my situation is sort of the opposite of everyones... I play pool while my future husband doesn't.. :)
We met in high school when we were 15 years old almost 13 years ago and have been pretty much attached at the hip ever since. We both played pool at the local arcade once in a while while growing up. Once I turned 18 I started hanging around the local pool hall and started playing alot more. Eventually it led to playing in the local leagues and tournaments. My finance did play in the league one year, and I even dragged him out to a small scotch doubles tournament, but other than that he plays 3-4 times a year and thats it.
A year or two ago I started getting more serious about the game and started playing pool 5-6 nights a week at the local pool hall, mostly alone. I also started to travel a bit more. although I only went 2-5 hours away from home, often times I had to travel alone and spent a few nights in a hotel and due to his work schedule he could not come with me.
Not once has he ever tried to stop me. He is always encouraging me, supporting me and pushing me when I start to get discouraged. He knows my dream is to one day make it to the WPBA so he bought me a pool table a month ago... :) How could I ask for anything better.

And every single male pool player in here is wanting to steal you from your husband! LOL

Nice thread, pretty damn good stories. Here's mine.

I met my wife at a party and was having a talk. It eventually touched on pool and to my surprise, she knows a thing or two. She also got to know that I love pool so much. I was young that time and played a lot. She loves pool and we both started playing from there on. When we were going out, she prefers going to pool halls than watching movies. I even bought her a cue, which is now gathering dust. Been married 16yrs now and she has less interest in pool. When we got married here in HK(I was hired by a HK firm from the Philippines.), I didn't play that much pool as in this place, it's all snooker. My colleagues play snooker. 5 years ago, pool started to become popular. Pool only joints opened. Snooker halls started putting in pool tables and colleagues started asking me out to play pool instead and my passion was re-ignited. From there on, my interest is stronger more than ever and the rest is history. My wife comes out with me sometimes, but she perfers other things than my pool. She tolerates my playing as long as it's not so much and she knows it's one of the things I like. She prefers it, than me going out pissing myself. I really just shoot Friday's and Saturday nites anyway.
