Masse cue

What makes a good masse cue. I have a custom made low deflection player with OB Classic shaft. I will always carry this cue. Also a jump break cue. I am a little afraid to do masse shots with my player. I do not want to carry a three butts. Should I get another shaft designed for masse to use on my player? Any suggestions?

weight & stiffness. a very heavy butt with a shortened (carom or conical) shaft & a strong ferrule will do the job. Elkmaster tip.

Longoni sells top notch composite masse shafts : FC47 profile in Woodcomp material . 14.2mm diameter at the tip (the ferrule is special masse, super strong) :

(if you go to the artistic carom world championship, you'll see, many players use this shaft)

Buy a cheap Longoni carom butt, the weight kit, then add the maximum. order a FC47 woodcomp material, and hop, you got a high end masse cue.

i disagree most of the masse cues that the pro trick shot players use are light most 17 or under a little . The trick is in the the build, not the weight

pal, i guess you're confusing masse cue & jump cue. i would be extremely curious to see a masse cue under 17oz lol.

(for the record, the weight of a longoni masse shaft itself is 5.5 to 6oz)

Being basically a small games carom player, small masse are natural part of the game with my playing cue which is 17oz, but i can't seriously try to play the artistic carom point n°68 or the n°7 without a proper masse cue and i'm not alone in this case : 17oz is much, much, much too light... same goes for masse pool trick shots . Ask to Florian K. what's the weight of his masse cues for pool , you'll see... they're lighter than his artistic carom masse cues, but they're not 17oz lol.
my 3 masse cues are from 25oz to >32oz (got a longoni masse butt with the FC47 shaft , a hacked production butt with shortened shafts & carbon ferrules and a dieckman masse cue with his ... ferruleless shaft. his butt alone is a deadly weapon).

I have a masse cue from Gene Vaness it's a Crown cue 53 inches long and 16.76 ounces, it was made that way not altered and came with the authentication from Gene To each their own. i bought that cue a s a collector I can shoot masse shots with any playing cue and also jump with a standard playing cue

From Google AI:
Massé cues are typically heavier and shorter than standard cues to facilitate high-spin, curved shots, with weights commonly ranging from
18 to 25 ounces. While some players prefer lighter massé cues around 19–21 oz, specialized massé cues often weigh around 25 oz to provide necessary force and stability

Why would you post something from AI and not your knowledge we all have Google

I'm so happy I didn't have to ask that...

A quote I heard recently: AI is only for when you don't care enough to research for yourself, or when you don't believe you are capable of researching for yourself.

As an aside, there may already be evidence that AI is getting worse since it 'answers' with a sort of 'average of information', and now it is taking into account much of the information it (wrongly) reported on in the past.

AI is just a tool. It can dig through more sources in seconds than most of us would in an hour, but you still have to use your own judgment on what to believe. Sometimes it’s flat-out wrong, but so is plenty of the “research” people do on their own. The trick is treating it like a fast assistant, not a replacement for thinking.

Okay, how much experience do you have building cues, especially masse cues? I have 28-30 yrs of building cues, and have only built one masse, BUT I followed Dennis Diekman's writings about them I did my research.....(yes I have copies of his writings about masse cues and NO I will not share) He was pretty much an expert but you may not of heard of him, so quoting him would not have any effect on you. I used AI simply because we do not know who the fk you are except you suddenly show up here acting like an expert but no background....sorta like DeeDee.... so I used an "accepted" source (in today's world) to relay the correct info.
So going forward, Lighter on a TRUE masse cue is NOT the norm .....as I showed....a simple google search shows that much. AGAIN With all due respect, I ask What experience do you bring to the table?

I already knew the answer....I assume you didn't, otherwise you would have provided the same info based on (obviously large amount of knowledge) your own expertise.

Thank you for the compliment. You assume correctly, I've never had any reason or desire to know anything about a masse cue, I wouldn't use one in a tourney and I find artistic pool ridiculously inane.
