Quick question guys and gals. Has anyone everheard of the mastercue tip tool? Now, from what I've seen, there seems to be two different types, but the one I want has these knobby rollers on it to help rough up the tip. Do you all know which product I am referring too?

yes ive heard of them. one is a cube and the other is almost like the ultimate tip tool. i do believe that BOTH of them have the knobby rollers on them. on the UTT shaped one, its on the back. on the cube, the cube opens up and its inside.

Is this the Tool you is talking about?

I want one of those too is has the gears on both sides. One side is a nickel the other a dime. Set it on the floor insert shaft and rotate for the perfect nickel or dime. And its about the same exact size as a cue cube. That tool is bad a#$.....

master tool is a piece of crap

I bought one at the SBE three years ago the roughing part wore out in about a dozen uses ,the rollers were virtually worthless, and the mushroom trimmer ruined my ferrule.JMHO.

I have one that has one large roller and two smaller rollers. It is made from a single piece of brass and comes with a leather holder. Bought it from mastercue a few years ago. The first one I saw had two rollers of similar size then it was redesigned with the three roller setup, send a pm if your interested.

I have sold the ones with the rollers in the past,,,but, my supplier says their no longer available,,,sorry,

the one Bruce pictures above is its replacement, IMHO the rollers worked better,,,also the one pictured above will cut a chunk out of your ferrule as easily as it will shave a tip,,,BEWARE !........................jflan

My personal take on all the Multi Function Pool Tip Tools is they are A-Kin to the Swiss Army Knife with 40 + Blades, and Gadgets on em. The Swiss Army Knife can do a lot of things Half-A**ed, but few things well.

Think if I was you I would buy a:

Willard

Tip Taper

Sand Paper Disc

have a NEW Dollar Bill available for Burnishing,

and forget the Muti Purpose Tools...
;)

i got:

willards - dime
its george tip tool
porper - mushroom grazer
porper - burnisher
sanding - strip
tip pik shadow

a buck for burnishing works best

soon to be: willards - nickel

My goal was to keep things simple. I mean, if it's a quality all-in-one tool, why wouldn't I want to get one? Everyone (well, almost everyone...) praises the ultimate tip tool and I think that the Master Cue tool was waaay better! Oh well, it was worth a shot. :(

There is another option - Start having quality laminated tips installed. I used to use Le Pro and Triangles and was always working with tools like this to keep the mushroom and shape deformation to a minimum. I have moved to using laminated tips (Originally Talisman Pros and now using Kamui's which are really excellent) and all I ever to is occasionally roughen them with a tip tapper.

I havent tried a Kamui but have tried all of the Moori layered tips and Talisman and CK and Tigers but the tip i liked the best is just a plain Triangle its just personal preference i guess it just never let me down never mushroomed just well never did anything that i thought was unsatisfactory in terms ya know and as soon as my Tiger Everest craps out a Triangle is going back on it had the Triangle my cue for about 11 months and it had plenty of meat still on it i could have gotten another year out of its easy another thing that helped it last was i never broke with it at all but that saves any tip though....
