Anyone have experience using mastercam v9 for CNC cue work? How does it rate?

Hadj, do you want to draw with it or just import cad drawings and generate the g-codes for them?

Prolly draw on a much easier CAD program then use mastercam as the g-code generator. I heard it's the foremost in CAM technology so they say...

Anything that would make it easier to draw, no problem about the Gcode 'coz I could do manual editing in it later...

Any user firendly CAD program other than AutoCad?

Yeah and received their newsletter yesteday I think... I haven't had time to tinker around but I did get that link you sent me before...
anything that would help is appreciated...

MASTERCAM v9 is the first cam program I'll be dealing with. Had a BOBCAD demo before but thrashed it:D So I'm unaware of what the hell this program could do aside from the basic CSM features

Why 2 programs?

I have been using mastercam at work for some time now and have not found the need to use a seperate program for drawing. How do you benefit by using autocad or other cad programs in combination with mastercam?
 
Mastercam doesnt have any fancy menus or buttons. It's GUI is somewhat primitive. However, once you get used to it, and learn what you can do with it, you won't care. For creating anything but full 3D geometry, it's hard to beat.

Sheldon, thanks for the heads up bud... I haven't had time to sit on it yet but once I do I'll get to understand what you mean :D
