Maybe Europe is just better?

How long is it going to take for us to realize that Europe is not a "Country" it is a bunch of countries. With that, they have a better selection of players. Instead of making the excuse that we sent the wrong players, isn't it just getting kind of obvious that they are simply better players? The way I see it, not only every year do the 5 they send beat up on us, but they have 5 more that aren't even on the team that we couldn't beat. Example, I'm sure most of us have a big mouthed braggart at our local pool hall that we would love to beat, but we know we can't so we save our money. I have no idea who's hard earned cash is sponsoring our U.S. team getting over to Europe but wouldn't it make more sense to spend that money more wisely. It's getting rather obvious that they are just better than us. Just my humble opinion, what to you all think?

Well said
Not sure what money is sponsored on the teams
But both teams getting a free roll (pardon the pun) of minimum $10K so the players do not want this to stop. Easy money

Maybe? LOL, how is this even up for debate. Getting our nuts shot off a set here or there, or a few sessions or even a year or two can be short term luck. Getting it done day after day, year after year seems to me like its more of a trend and not an anomaly.

As long as the format stays the same, we will never win

Plus every tournament we play here should be 9 on the spot

I think that would help a little but I think we are seriously

out-gunned.

I can not for the life of me figure out why our team just

can't get goin in these short races

I'm getting all weepy...

Yes, let's just quit competing. That's the American spirit!

I believe the reason the 9 on the spot is a problem for us is there aren't as many roadmaps after the break. USA breaks and runs those roadmaps but seem to have problems when balls are tied up or there is a safety battle. It seems USA chose to try to bank balls more often and Europe took the safer route when left with possible banks. You can't be selling out games like that in a race to 5 alternate break and expect to still win.

Its because our team are largely rhythm players. they rely too much on it. Europeans and asians play safe all the time, and by such virtue also have to escape safes all the time, thereby learning how to switch efficiently between defensive and offensive play. IMHO

USA is a bunch of collective States

Which is the same thing as Europe.
I am truly amazed at the shear number of whiners here. They beat us fair and square. Live with it. Quit crying over spilled Pimms and lemonade, for crissakes.
We kicked their butts at Ryder Cup, didn't we? How about Concorde and Lexington?
I know, we lost out in Canada, but what the hell. Chill out.

That's pretty clear. What's really brutal is i don't see a U.S. win on the horizon any time soon.

Well, except for their bacon...

I disagree. The British and the French got stuck with Canada. I see that as a clear cut victory for us.

The population of Europe is over double the United States. So all things being equal, wouldn't we expect them to be better? Bigger pie to pull players from. Plus they tend to play more difficult games there. Not sure "more difficult" is the right wording, but you get the idea.

In red.

That may well be the case but in most of Europe American Pool is rarely if ever played.

In the UK for example it is English 8 ball followed by snooker with perhaps a few hundred "serious" AP players - most of which will also play other disciplines too.

It is similar over much of Europe to be honest.

But therein probably is the clue. These other games require much better fundamentals so the base ability of your typical European player is much much stronger - the nuances of the American pool game, such as a rotation game, can be learned in a short space of time - relative to the time it takes to gain perfect fundamentals.
