Mc Dermott I-2 Shafts

Well I have the I-1, I-2, and I-3 shafts.
I like them all, but I prefer the I-3 the most. The I-2 feels a lot like the regular McDermott shaft, however the most noticeable difference on the hit is when you use a lot of top English on the ball and hit it hard. You will find the shaft is a bit more flexible and you will feel it when you do this.
However as far as not driving the ball off line when hitting right or left english shots it is a great feel. Not much adjustment is needed if you are already playing with a Mcdermott. However there is a little bit of adjustment curve.
A lot of people prefer the 314 to anything out there, so you might want to shoot with someone's 314 to see if you like it first.
I think the 314 is a great shaft, but I liked the feel and hit of the OB-1 shaft the best. I liked it so much that I am going to get the OB-1 Shaft next. I even like it better than the I-2 shaft or the I-3!
If you haven't used a low deflection shaft before you will probably like the I-2 for your first one. It is a good shaft. Anyway, if you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

I can only speak from my own experience but I fell hard pressed to use the term low deflection and the I-2 in the same sentence. I'm a long time Predator user and purchased a I-2 and OB1 for comparison. My attitude is use never know until you know so I wanted to give them each a proper test drive.
I really like the OB1 but to date have not put in enough time to make the small adjustment from it to the Pred. The I-2 on the other hand is nothing special. It's closer to a traditional shaft in performance and I don't care for the feel of the graphite core. If you keep your pace down and stay below a tip it performs as expected. Once you amp up a little bit it really pushes the cue ball out there. The Pred and OB1 are much more linear in there deflection and spin application over a bunch of different shots.

I have used I-2 only once and don't know much about it.
However, I have either had/have other technology shafts such as:
z, 314, OB-1 (12.75), OB-1 (12.3), new x-shaft (13.0).
z - too hard to play with same goes with z-2, lots of spin hard to control.
Not recommended.
314 - feedback could be better, good spin and power; 314-2 has better feel I like that one;
Good shaft.
X- would be good for C, B players. Easy to use. Good control. Up and down kind of shooting, Good to learn how to hit a ball in the middle, and with left and right English. Not much power. This is the stiffest shaft I have ever seen. Hard to induce spin, easy to kill the ball.
Not sure yet.
OB-1 (12.75) outstanding, lots of spin, good control, lots of power, great feel.
It is a lively shaft. Requires some ability to be effective.
Best shaft hands down.

I can't compare the 314-2, but I have the I2 and I didn't really care for the Moori medium tip so I had a Sniper tip put on. What a difference. As far as being low deflection, I will have to agree with Nick. I think the phrase "lower deflection" is a better fit. By lower I mean lower than the original shaft that came with my McD. I actually like the I2, but like txplshrk, I believe the I3 (with the Sniper) would be a better fit for me. But for now, the I2 does suit my needs well.
