McDaniel vs. Schon

Hi all,
I figured I would come here to get an "expert opinion" on the two. I have a Bill McDaniel and have it paired with a Predator 314 cat along with the original shaft. This is probably the best shooting stick I have ever shot with. I was thinking of selling it and getting a Schon butt to pair with my 314. Do you all think I will get about the same feel as I have now. Both would have stainless steel joints 5/16x14 and a linen wrap. The Schon will be an STL model.
Thanks, Adam

If your Mcd is the best shooting stick you have played with, why switch? Unless you are going to be a collector, of course...

not an expert but if you have the best shooting stick youve ever shot with, why sell it for something thats an unknown. You see people all the time say...."i used to have a so and so, and like an idiot i sold it...."

I only shoot about twice a week now and really want someone else to enjoy it. I know I will be sick after I sell it but face it all good things come and go.

I really haven't done that much research but I like the style of the STL as opposed to the CX. I think I would rather go with an STL though.

Unless you really need the money, and have someone willing to give you top dollar + for the McDaniel, and had great buy lined up for a Schon, I think you'd be nuts to change. Not knocking Schon cues, but they are production cues, that are still being made. Granted, they are well made, but the Bill McDaniel cue, even though they are built in a similar shop hierarchy was still considered IMHO as a custom cue, which are no longer made. That on top of the fact that you were raving about the BM cue and that you considered it the best shooting cue you've ever played with, makes me wonder if you're trolling, or are you're just crazy? Sorry, no disrespect intended, just don't understand why you'd even consider changing to a different cue when you already have the "magic wand". GL

Probably close...one of the best hitting cues I ever owned was an 83 schon with a 1st gen 314. Look it up, I listed the balance point. That's the biggest area u may experience a difference, but it had a nice forward balance. Measure your mc Daniel balance point, and look up my old schon, then you can decide if it's close enough. Ps, go with leather

That would be no way. Not even in the same ballpark. How can you compare a custom made Bill Mcdaniel cue to a production schon cue????????? It doesn't matter when the schon was made, it is still a production cue. My opnion!

If you love the McDaniel cue you currently have...I'd stick with it, personally.

I've owned too many cues to count, and know FOR FACT that a Schon can play every bit as good as a custom...and often times, a Schon will play better.

That said, though - if you love how your McD plays for ya, keep it! You run the risk of getting a new cue that just doesn't 'do it' for you, and you'll have to live with regret for getting rid of one that suited you well.

Good luck, regardless of what you decide!!!

Hi Sherm,
I really have no idea what trolling is so I can't say if I am or ain't. I assume that it isn't that great and probably is bad. I am just getting answers to a question I have. Yes I kind of need the money, but not hurting for it. I just have too many cues and was looking to sell them so I could narrow my range down to one shooting cue and one break cue. I sometimes shoot in small bars also and don't want her to get beat up or mistreated. I am not shooting as often as I did when I bought it so I thought that someone else could enjoy it better than me twice a week.

Sir you have not offended me nor do I feel disrespected. I am just a guy trying to get answers.
Thanks, Adam

You know how it is, everyone wants to find the magic wand.

McDaniel's are one of the best hitting cues on the planet, not to mention how well they are built. I don't understand why you would compare a Schon to it. Stick with the McD, or better yet buy a second one.
